The Practice Leader for IAM/IPR will be responsible for building and leading all aspects of the company's IAM/IPR function, including:
- Driving growth - should have previously grown and scaled an IAM/IPR business
- Managing all aspects of Operations and Client deliveries
- Developing and enhancing the value proposition for the IAM business including both IP and Technology Research aspects
- Leading and managing farming and hunting Sales to grow the Business
- Building and executing on a sales and marketing plan
- Developing detailed proposal and architecting solutions for the Clients
- Presenting the proposals to Clients and winning business
- Building thought leadership and content for the IAM business
- Leading and strengthening the IAM team and its processes
- Good to have: experience in growing and managing a P&L
The Person :
Pivotal Experience & Expertise :
- Deep understanding of the IAM world, comprising both of IP and Technology Research
- Understanding should include aspects of IAM crossing roads with strategy/innovation management, prosecution and litigation
- Innovation Management, Consulting, Market search, Patent drafting, Patent search and Patent prosecution
- Past experience in providing Consulting services would help
- Keen interest in new technologies
- Experience of setting / scaling up an IAM function in a fast-growing company striving toward market leadership in an evolving marketplace
- Ability to grow a Business to a minimum of USD6mn
- Showcased past experience of growing an IAM business to a minimum of USD3mn
- International experience, servicing Clients in the US, UK and EU
- Preferably Certified patent agent and/or Patent attorney; patent valuation expert
- Good to have: experience in Domains such as Automobile, Telecommunication, Semi-Conductor/Electronics, Pharma
- Techno-Legal mindset,
Technical Experience & Expertise:
- Experience working with different Patent offices/Organisations including USPTO, IPO, EPO, WIPO, PCT & Chinese PTO
- Knowledge of various Patent Databases like PatSnap, LexisNexis, Orbit, Thomson Innovation, Innography as well as non-patent literature
- Innovation:
- Technology Landscaping, Competitor landscape, Patent Due Diligence, Technology trend analysis, Market Search, Product Search, Technology scouting, In/Out licensing, patent analytics
- Prosecution:
- Novelty searches (prior-art searches), Patent application and drafting, office action response, risk assessment, freedom-to-operate
- Litigation:
- Invalidation searches, infringement analysis, claim charting
- Stay abreast of Products, emerging technologies, Patent laws and Intellectual property management processes.
