Position Summary:

- The Manager HR, Government and School Relations will be responsible for creating the strategy and enabling maximum school impact throughout the city through initiating and building relationships with partner schools and leveraging key influencers in the local city government as well as building a strong city culture.

- This person is the backbone of the Delhi site handling multiple responsibilities to ensure smooth operations, strong processes, systems and decision making at scale for a site like Delhi with approximately 250 Fellows supported by 40 staff members. S/he will be responsible for setting a strong city culture and work closely with the city leadership team to curtail attrition at every level as well as hiring of all open positions.

- The Manager will also be responsible for overall community liaison strategy and networking with NGOs working in and around the placement school clusters and communities, to provide a conducive environment for Fellows and Program Managers to deliver on their goals for student achievement.

- The manager is responsible for creating a strategy for expansion and placements within the city. The manager is responsible to find long term solutions for partnering with the Government at State and City level. The Manager will also be responsible for building an awareness of our model within the various government bodies so as to procure - stay sanction- in the schools and also in reaching the Government funding target for the city.

Team Overview:

The Delhi city operations team has the exciting and challenging role of driving the Teach For India vision and mission for the last 3 years. This involves training and supporting Fellows to have impact in their classrooms, schools and communities, to have impact on themselves and to prepare Fellows for their post Fellowship journey. The team works with various stakeholders in the city of Delhi like numerous Government bodies (3 MCD zones, DoE departments and SSA department), corporates, foundations, NGOs as well as our Alumni to drive our vision.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to

- Human Resources Compliance

- Primary Custodian of quality control of all Fellow Databases ( including online) managed by the HR associate : Support Fellow registrations at the institute, maintain Fellow Database, track Fellow retention issues and facilitate retention conversations wherever needed.

- Ensure timely completion of all HR tasks by the HR associate with 100% quality checks (Attendance and leave management, Fellow stipend processing data, performance management, Support Staff and Fellows with any HR related queries as well as volunteer management within the city)

- Fellow Support conversations: Participate in the Support plan conversations with Program Manager/Senior Program Managers/City Directors.

- Facilitate trainings to align Fellows and Staff to organizational policies and processes

- Hiring and Induction of new City Operations members

- Leadership Development Plan (LDP)- Making sure that Senior Program Manager and City Director conduct 2X2 conversations with teams by scheduling, facilitating and/or shadowing conversations. City Human Resources must facilitate the group conversations that happen during the LDP cycle and drive the staff engagement survey.

- Recognition and engagement plan for City Staff, building in more informal team time and ensure that general well-being of city team is taken care of.

- Conduct regularly meetings and touch points with Fellows and staff

Government and School Relations:

- Invest, sustain and grow the critical relationships with the key stakeholders of the local Government, local Government bodies and other leaders (local politicians and community leaders) for reaching the long term vision of Teach For India, Delhi.

- Build contacts within the Government bodies to ensure we are able to get the government funding for our Delhi Operations.

- Build systematic funding partnerships with the government for years to come.

- Explore and create alumni and internship opportunities with Government departments.

- Set a vision for school and community impact for Teach For India, Delhi by establishing different support structures for both Program Managers and Fellows, which will center around sustaining strong relationships with the parents, school Head Masters, non-Teach For India school teachers, student communities and other important stakeholders from the schools and communities of Delhi.

- Design and organize the Principal conferences through partnership with other foundations within Delhi who hold expertise in leadership development.

- Design an elaborate vision for Teach For India's expansion in the region and manage the Fellow placements for the incoming Fellows by ensuring smooth MOU renewals, building the annual placement strategy, and looking into the expansion into other Government and low- income private schools in the city.

- Design, Support and train the city program team (PMs and Fellows) on the various aspects of relationship building, difficult conversations and school transformation through workshops at city conferences and PM debriefs.

Assist the PMs and Fellows in reaching amicable solutions for concerns raised by principal or government

- Manage, support and professionally develop placement and school relation associates.

- Lead the School and Government Relations Committee to end of year outcomes.

Additional responsibilities:

- Nurture and grow the 3 associates working within the team so that they are able to meet their potential

- Support in Recruitment, Selection, Matriculation based on interest and skills.

- Support at Training Institute based on interest and skills.

- Support in planning and organizing city events like InspirED, mid-year retreats.

Education and Experience:

Here are the minimum qualifications we look for:

- Minimum of 4- 6 years of operations management experience

- Experience in HR preferred but not essential

- Graduate in any stream
