Swiggy - Manager - Test Engineering

About the Team:

- The Marketplace Fulfilment Team is responsible for the entire post order experience at Swiggy. The technology solutions built by Marketplace Fulfilment Platform (MFP) Team are at the heart of Swiggy's ability to deliver food to Customers. These systems power and affect the entire journey of a customer's order; from predicting SLAs for a given set of restaurants using AI models when the app is opened, to the time the order is delivered to the Customer's doorstep.

- The team's charter encompasses all aspects of order fulfilment & logistics, from planning the delivery fleet within a city/zone by time of day, to sophisticated algorithms and ML models that assign orders within minutes, in order to deliver the order within a 30-45min time slot, while maximising utilisation and efficiency of the fleet, to monitoring the order and automating interventions to handle exceptional conditions.

- With Swiggy's unparalleled hyperlocal density, our Maps and Data Sciences team leverage the travel time data of Delivery Partners currently delivering orders, joined with our historical data to enable the speed and compliance of predicted SLAs, in the face of varying traffic condition and item preparation times in different cities, zones and restaurants, and providing live tracking of the order status and driver journey to Customers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Mentor and lead a large team of talented Software Development Engineers in Test

- Define and monitor quality assurance metrics for continuous quality & process improvements .

- Focussed on Automation and continuously work on removing manual dependencies from the systems, innovate new methods to optimize testing cycles.

- Creation of central quality tools and frameworks for better optimization of deliverables.

- Estimating efforts, identify risks, devise mitigation and meet project schedules

- Communicating clearly and openly with internal and external stakeholders regarding progress, roadblocks, and timelines.

- Leading by example and keeping enthusiasm high in tight-deadline situations.

- Oversee technical scoping and design of projects to ensure that projects deliver the expected value on time and with high quality

- Work closely with management to identify risks, solve problems, and maintain progress and target online deliveries with high quality benchmarks.

- Provide management with reports/metrics to display transparency into testing progress, automation summaries, and release readiness- -

- Research and stay current on Quality Engineering Testing trends as the industry evolves.

What to Bring:

- BTech/MTech in Computer Science or equivalent from a premier institute

- Should have worked on developing automation tools or frameworks to test Big Data, Rest APIs, microservices, data migration, failover mechanism, blue green setups

- Good knowledge on the DevOps tooling and processes.

- Excellent understanding on the REST APIs and its usage.

- Excellent Knowledge of SQL and/or Hive query scripting

- Experience in working or testing with distributed architecture (eg. Aerospike, DynamoDB, Elastic Search, Hadoop, Cassandra, Kafka, Data lake, etc..)

- Experience with Amazon AWS or similar cloud providers

- Ability to build Performance frameworks from ground up.

- Experience in industry best practices in SW development processes: Unit testing, code coverage, OO design, code quality, automation, code reviews etc.

- Good coding skills and debugging skills.

- Problem solving capabilities, and solution provider.

- Solving complex testing challenges and translate the same to the team.-

- Ability to collaborate and work well with others at all levels in the organization

- Must be self-directed and detail oriented.
