About our Client : Our client is a global MNC Bank with significant growth plans, they are embarking on the next stage of the development of their India operations. They are looking for a seasoned risk & compliance professional who would be responsible for creating a strong control & compliance framework for their Liabilities & Wealth Management business based out of Mumbai.

Job Description: Reporting into the India Compliance Head, you would be responsible for providing compliance oversight to the Retail Banking Division, focusing on the Liabilities & the Wealth Management Business. The business has seen substantial growth over the years and constitutes around one third of the total revenues of the overall retail banking business.

Working as the compliance officer, your key responsibilities shall be:

- Institute and maintain an effective compliance program that promotes a clear understanding of new and existing compliance policies

- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk while developing & implementing corrective action plans for resolution of issues

- Independently interface with the Business Managers and Senior Management to regularly update the critical items in their respective businesses

- Drive timely implementation on regulatory changes across various points viz product program, process notes, Regulatory Matrix, system development etc.

- Engage appropriately with the regulators during an inspection /review to clarify matters from a compliance perspective and to ensure timely submission of deliverables by the business

- Drive an effective compliance management program through formulation of relevant policies, review of critical MIS, controls and regulatory customer complaints and timely escalation of issues

- Ensure regular and proactive engagement with the regulators and establish suitable working relationship with them

The Successful Candidate:

- CA/MBA with over 15 years of solid experience of managing/leading the Regulatory Compliance function for a Retail Bank

- Extensive experience of managing regulatory compliance for the retail banking operations (India Business) along with solid experience of dealing with Indian regulators (RBI, SEBI, IRDA, etc)

- Proven knowledge and understanding of compliance function and regulatory requirements underlying central compliance controls, such as regulations on anti-bribery and corruption, licensing and registration, personal account dealing

- Strong management, motivational and interpersonal skills

- Proven ability to develop and challenge staff to enable them to meet their full potential

- Ability to confront conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive and proactive manner while remaining sensitive to business needs

- Capable of representing and enforcing compliance with regulations with personnel at all levels of seniority

- Comfortable delivering difficult messages to the business in a positive way with ability to lead complex projects

- Self starter with the ability to meet or exceed expectations, meet deadlines, prioritize work, multi-task and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing environment
