Sustainable Development Head - Corporate


Key Purpose:


This role is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving best-in-class Sustainability (ESG) performance for the company. This position entails leading the development and implementation of the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, with a focus on climate risk, carbon footprint reduction, water positivity, plastic negativity, and increasing green cover. The role holder monitors and reports ESG performance using frameworks like GRI and BRSR, builds ESG capabilities, ensures compliance with environmental regulations, and coordinates various environmental studies and assessments.

Responsibilities:

ESG Strategy Development and Implementation:

- Lead the development and implementation of the ESG strategy, aligning with organizational goals and industry best practices.

- Focus on climate risk assessment, carbon footprint reduction, water resource management, plastic waste reduction, and green cover enhancement.

ESG Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

- Monitor and report ESG performance using established frameworks like GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) and BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting).

- Prepare and present comprehensive reports to internal and external stakeholders, showcasing progress and achievements.

ESG Capability Building and Compliance:

- Build the company's ESG capabilities through training, awareness programs, and knowledge sharing.

- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and requirements related to ESG practices.

Environment Due Diligence and Studies:

- Conduct environmental due diligence for project financing and new projects, assessing potential environmental impacts and risks.

- Coordinate and oversee various environmental studies, including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), hydrogeology, hydrology, wildlife conservation plans, and biodiversity assessments.

Environmental Clearances and Permissions:

- Obtain necessary environmental clearances for mines and brownfield expansions from Central and State Governments.

- Secure permissions from Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) for effective water resource management.

Regulatory Compliance and Integrated Management System:

- Manage compliance with all permissions and regulatory requirements, including Environmental Clearance (EC), Consent to Establish (CTE), Consent to Operate (CTO), CGWA permissions, and more.

- Coordinate and sustain the Integrated Management System for environmental performance.

Performance Metrics and Budgeting:

- Develop and implement environment performance metrics and budgets to track progress and allocate resources effectively.

- Optimize resource utilization to achieve sustainability targets.

Stakeholder Engagement and Awareness:

- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and collaboration for effective environmental impact assessment and risk mitigation.

- Train teams and create awareness about environmental policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and objectives.

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

Experience:

- 20 years of overall experience in minimum

- Experience in managing multi location plants of 20-30 MT cement capacity

- Experience in Environment Clearance for Mines, Plants (Green and brown field projects)

Experience in Cement Industry
