Steel Strips Wheels - General Manager - R&D/Innovation - Automotive

Responsible for Developing & leading the R&D team for :

- Engineering & Technology management

- Innovation & continuous improvement

- Product design & development

- Tool design & development

- Process engineering of Steel wheels

- Program management

Role and Responsibilities :

- Understanding the technological trend in the auto industry and Identifying niche changes & opportunities

- Developing R&D strategies & Technology road map.

- Benchmarking the product & manufacturing process

- Checking the Technical & Manufacturing feasibility of RFQ

- Product design based on customer inputs using standards to meet the required styling & target weight

- Process design including Mold/Tool & Gage design

- New Product Development and Launch using APQP processes.

- Conducting research on consumer needs, continuous interactions with the marketing team, Manufacturing teams to generate ideas and develop new products.

- Continuous improvement in Process engineering for the existing setup and new setups to make them efficient.

- Operating 3D tools, simulation software and other design tools.

- Monitoring the progress of project w.r.t the committed time lines with internal functions

- Assuring the quality of the product, testing of the product and customer trial of the product before handing it over to production.

- Generation of VA/VE & cost reduction ideas & implementation including weight reduction

- Motivates and builds a high performing team

- Budgeting and monitoring of R&D finances

- Mapping and managing competencies

- Drives accountability and results from R&D technical disciplines

- Manages product development and resource management for R&D

- Warranty reduction

Qualifications and Education Requirements :

Education : ME / MTech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience : 15- 20 years in R&D
