We need a very strong candidate with atleast some experience in Kolkata and very high amount of Sales Orientation & ability to lead a diverse team. Kolkata has been growing and becoming a major revenue center for us and we need someone who will take the station which has been performing consistently for the last 3 years forward.
Need someone with very high energy and leadership skills to lead a very high performing team (Sales & Programming - 25 to30 team members) in a very competitive environment.
We would prefer someone from FMCG, Telecom, Banking background who has seen scale and business complexities.
The salary offered would range from 45 to 50 Lacs (25% variable).
Full-Time MBA is must
Age within 40 years
Stability in a couple of good brands is critical
Role Description
TITLE: Station Head
REPORTS TO: Head of Business
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
P&L responsibility for the Station. Manages all day-to-day operations and administration of a local radio station. Monitors and controls budget expenditures, ensures maintenance of operating equipment and facilities, and motivates and engages the team.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility Sales & Programming Responsibilities
Tasks
- Plans, coordinates, and directs the operation of the station to ensure compliance with all government and company regulations and standards for public broadcasting.
- Forecast & achieve the targets with the team, as discussed and agreed with the management.
- Discuss with the Sales and Programming Heads to ensure implementation of innovative concepts.
- Educate the market and motivate team to bring in new/first time radio users from the local retail market.
- Initiate regular agency/direct client radio presentations.
- Discuss targets with sales head with regular motivation tools and follow-ups.
- Look into attaining additional revenue through the various offers
- Ensure that Programming format is adhered to by the station

- Maintain or increase audience share as reported by Research.
- Adherence to sales processes and compliances
Responsibility Talent/Staff Management
Tasks -
- Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates top quality personnel.
- Ensure effective management within the marketing, and public relations/promotions function, with provision for succession.
- Design, support and oversee cross-functional teams throughout the organization.
- Provide coaching and regular one-on-one meetings for team.
- Recruit, train and coach the team.
Performance standards
- Adhere to company policy and procedures in recruitment, separation, and other decisions.
- Ensure low staff turnover & maintain performance standards of the team.
Responsibility Promotions and Marketing
Tasks
- Research ways of improving station profile, consult with the Marketing and the Promotions team and ensure implementation of decisions.
- Work with the Heads of Sales & Programming to add value to customers of the radio station.
- Look into the radio needs and discuss with promotions coordinator on how to create solutions to those needs.
- Get reports from regions with regards to new projects and events and ensure implementation of the relevant projects for the local station.
- Ensure the development and implementation of the promotions calendar
Performance standards
- Demonstrate and deliver on the revenue opportunities in conjunction with sales.
- Ensure implementation of concepts and ideas for outside broadcast activities
