Basic Purpose of Job:
Across the globe, institutional investors rely on State Street to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability. The Business Analyst - Senior Associate would be supporting multiple high priority strategic initiatives for Finance and Treasury groups. The Business Analyst - Senior Associate will work with numerous functions within State Street to help drive the data delivery strategy across Finance and Risk groups.
Responsibilities & Tasks Include:
- Identify, integrate, and manage required internal and external resources to provide business solutions for complex business issues, while being able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Oversee the entire project life cycle of detailed project plans using an AGILE methodology including due diligence and analysis
- Act as customer proxy working closely with our Finance, Risk and Treasury business partners to develop and present written project plans and delegate or execute project tasks including test plan(s) and acceptance testing
- Develop subject matter expertise on data structures and data flows in and out of the Finance, Risk and Treasury Data Repository
- Perform in-depth data analysis including building data-models and prototypes to understand complex customer requests
- Balance competing requirements by negotiating with customers and facilitating clear prioritization of requirements
- Master an understanding of the end-to-end application framework with a focus on customer needs and key business drivers
- Work closely with IT to build relationships and gain a complete understanding of the Database architecture.
- Exemplify a customer focused, team driven mentality; serving as role model for colleagues, coaching and motivating team members to make needed adjustments in plans to meet milestones and to achieve goals. Facilitate and document lessons learned on projects to use on future projects
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
- 6 - 8 years- experience as a business Analyst in a data-centric project environment.
- Minimum requirement is BS/BA. Masters degree is a plus.
- Ideal candidate will have deep understanding of financial concepts and should have a background with financial services industry.
- Comfortable with large volumes of data, understands data transformation, normalization, and data-modelling.
- Basic understanding of SQL
- Prior experience with on-shore off-shore model is a big plus.
- Experience with both traditional Waterfall SDLC and Agile.
- Understanding of Finance, Risk an Treasury business will be given preference.
Skills/ Knowledge
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills and proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with business and systems personnel
- Intellectually curious with superior problem solving and analysis skills
- Strong ability to quickly learn new BI tools and data sources.
- Meticulous attention to detail, placing high value on accuracy; diligent about upholding control points and procedures in the Software development lifecycle
- Willing to take ownership and initiative, be accountable and proactive, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible, able to adapt to changing priorities in an Agile and informal setting
