As a State Credit Head will be responsible for overseeing the appraisal and approval of proposals, ensuring adherence to credit policies, and maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio.
What you will do:
- Evaluating informal income and customer profiles for Home Loan and Mortgage applications
- Undertaking credit appraisal and underwriting of loan files, analyzing financial status and credit evaluations
- Supervising credit underwriters in the appraisal and approval of loan proposals
- Ensuring adherence to turn around times (TAT) and support business requests
- Assessing customers sourced by the Sales team according to credit policy
- Determining deviations and exceptions, providing decisions on deals (approve / suggest modified terms / decline)
- Highlighting key risks, structure exposure, and presenting proposals to the credit committee
- Tracking OTCs & PDDs for the zone, ensuring timely completion
- Monitoring documentation deferrals and overseeing the collection of PDDs
- Managing portfolio quality and ensuring compliance with policy norms
- Monitoring borrower portfolio performance and preparing periodic reports
- Monitoring portfolio performance based on Non-Starters & Early Delinquency
- Analyzing delinquency across sourcing channels, products, and customer segments
- Collaborating with Technical, Collection, and RCU teams to ensure a high-quality portfolio
- Providing training to credit underwriters on policy norms and offering insights for policy/process
improvements
- Recruiting, training, and mentoring the credit team
- Ensuring effective communication and teamwork within the team
- Monitoring competitors' activities and meeting competitors regularly to understand changes in the
portfolio and market trends
- Resolving audit queries and sharing underwriting gaps
- Providing inputs to the analytics team for building portfolio analytics and scoring models
What you need to have:
- Graduate/Post-Graduate, MBA/CA preferred
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Home Loan and Mortgage credit assessment
- Excellent credit assessment skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Problem-solving ability and a customer-centric approach
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to train and lead a team
