Job Summary:
The Business Head for Bill Payments and UPI will spearhead the strategy, growth, and operations of the Bill Payments and UPI verticals for our consumer app. This role demands a strategic leader with deep expertise in the payments ecosystem, especially in bill payments and Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving product innovation, enhancing user experience, ensuring regulatory compliance, and achieving financial targets. This is a high- impact role requiring a combination of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership :
- Develop and execute the overall business strategy for Bill Payments and UPI verticals
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to drive revenue growth.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.
- Lead market research and analysis to identify consumer needs and preferences.
Product Development & Innovation:
- Collaborate with product, technology, and design teams to innovate and enhance the Bill Payments and UPI offerings.
- Oversee the product lifecycle from ideation to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Continuously improve the user experience, focusing on ease of use, security, and transaction speed.
Operational Excellence:
- Drive operational efficiency across the Bill Payments and UPI verticals, ensuring smooth and secure transactions.
- Develop and implement processes to manage and optimize transaction flow, reduce failure rates, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Ensure robust risk management and fraud prevention measures are in place.
Financial Management :
- Develop and manage the P&L for the Bill Payments and UPI business units.
- Set and achieve financial targets, including revenue, profitability, and cost management.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions when necessary to achieve business objectives.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements related to bill payments and UPI.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and partners to stay updated on compliance changes.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the company and its users from financial and reputational risks.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of professionals across various functions.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Identify skill gaps and invest in training and development programs to upskill the team.
Partnerships & Vendor Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with banks, payment networks, billers, and other key partners.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors and service providers to ensure optimal terms and service levels.
- Explore and onboard new partners to expand the reach and capabilities of the Bill Payments and UPI offerings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in the payments industry, with a strong focus on UPI and Bill Payments.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling digital payment solutions in a consumer-facing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of the payments ecosystem, including regulatory requirements, technology trends, and consumer behavior.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a cross-functional team.
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with government bodies, regulators, and industry associations is a plus.
