Position Description

Role Description & Strategic Objectives:

The position of Senior Level Instrument Engineer is to ensure application of sound engineering principles and practice to assigned design and development projects. This is a key role in Project development team which calls for broader experience of oil & gas surface facilities, demonstrated ability and good judgment. Strong engineering background is prerequisite along with broad understanding of multidisciplinary project environment. Role description is summarized as follows:

- The candidate shall have about 15 to 20 years of experience, which has been gained through working for reputable oil & gas consulting and/or E&P Company in India and abroad with significant emphasis and specialization in projects design engineering.

- He must be experienced with oil & gas gathering systems, processing facilities, and distribution systems, including significant experience in the specification of Control and ESD systems, and also experience in specifying field instrumentation and analylisers..

- Should be a well organized, goal orientated, independent individual with good planning skills with a strong track record of delivering on schedule..

- The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to interface effectively across the functional boundaries.

- Above all, the candidate should be a team-orientated professional who uses common sense when making decisions.

- Education: Graduate in Instrument Engineering or equivalent technical field.

- He must have demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly to work effectively with others, and to utilize technical knowledge to achieve practical results.

- Experienced and capable of leading a team of discipline engineers and interfacing with and guiding Engineering Design Contractors/Consultants.

The primarily base location for this position will be Gurgaon with travelling to other Cairn’s sites and terminals.

The strategic objectives of the position are as follows:

1. Provides Instrument engineering services for surface facilities projects related to oil and gas.

2. Provides technical support to fields and terminal operating units in identifying and rectifying site problems.

3. Manages technical interface with vendors during procurement cycle.

4. Manages and reviews the engineering design work performed by subcontractors and vendors.

Position Requirements

Education and Relevant Experience

Business Understanding

- Minimum qualification - BE (INSTRUMENTATION) from a recognised university

- Experience of 15 TO 20 years of Engg as instrumentation Engineer.

- Should have preferably large development project experience of working internationally, have held positions in companies which have a large national workforce, where effective teamwork and cultural sensitivity are highly valued behaviours.

- Managerial experience is essential and must have demonstrated experience in engineering activities on existing and proposed facilities, Conceptual designing etc.

Knowledge/Skills

- Should have broad knowledge on Oil & Gas facilities

- Good understanding of multi-discipline Project Engineering. processes

- Good understanding of the commercial aspects of the business..

- Shall be aware of process HAZARD and safety issues,Hazop and SIL

- Be familiar with Indian and international Codes and Standards

- Experience with Indian codes and standards , DGMS, OISD etc.

- Successful candidates will be self-starters, possess strong functional, analytical and communication skills, and enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary environment

- Ability to work in a multi cultural, multi ethnic and multi-national environment.

- Experienced with review of design documents prepared by others, and skilled at guiding and managing the work of engineering subcontractors.
