We are looking for a strategic and energetic leader to manage, through a team, the planning, development and implementation of advanced predictive models, performance measures and the effective provision of advanced statistics, measurement, and research design methods. This includes providing expert advice and consultation to the Board of Directors and senior management.

Your success will be measured by your ability to effectively:
- Provide expert advice, recommendations and information from a statistical perspective to the Board of Directors, senior and operational management, Branch and other staff, and externals on advanced statistical, research design and measurement methods and techniques.
- Represent the Vice-President & Chief Statistician and the team at meetings and committees to ensure their perspectives are well communicated, determining possible impacts on the division, negotiating the most effective solutions and communicating information to the Vice President & Chief Statistician and senior management on an ongoing basis.
- Lead in the design and management of data mining and predictive modeling projects.
- Establish analytical data sets that combine various data sources.
- Build predictive models using SAS and other statistical and data mining systems. Interpret and synthesize data from diverse sources using advanced mathematical and statistical theories and applications. Summarize findings and recommendations for reporting and presentation purposes using various formats.
- Plan, manage and control the activities of the Predictive Modeling unit which includes: annual planning of unit projects and priorities; ensuring the unit is adequately and competently staffed and conducting the hiring process; identifying and recommending organization changes to the Vice President & Chief Statistician; allocating and reviewing work; establishing and monitoring performance objectives; conducting performance reviews; and providing guidance and expertise to staff.
- Participate with the Vice-President & Chief Statistician in the planning and development of short and long term strategic business plans, goals and objectives. As a member of the division's management team, collaborate with peers, the Vice President & Chief Statistician to identify, recommend and develop divisional strategy, goals and objectives.
- Routinely survey published scientific literature on issues related to data mining, predictive modeling, measurement and research design. Liaise with the insurance, finance and the academic community and remain part of its information network.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with various operational areas of the ACIL to identify needs discuss and resolve issues, and exchange information of mutual concern. Partner with Actuarial Services and Finance in the development of predictive modeling and in evaluating the business implications of the results.
- Develop and administer the unit operating budget, authorize expenditures within approved budget and report on variances as required. Recommend expenditures outside of the budget for approval.
- Ensure risk management, quality management and continuous improvement systems are established.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Desired Skills & Experience
1. Demonstrated experience providing expert consultation and leading in the development of predictive modeling and analysis. This is normally acquired through an academic background, preferably a MS/MA in the statistics, economics or other quantitative disciplines, 2 -4 years of related experience
2. Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise and build rapport with senior management and internal/external stakeholders on a wide variety of issues which may be highly sensitive or controversial in nature.
3. Strong oral communication skills to present/discuss/recommend research methodologies and approaches with all levels of management and staff.
4. Strong written communication skills to write and publish statistical and research reports both within the Board as well as through accredited academic/scientific journals.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of project management.
6. Knowledge of the external political, economic and social climate in Mumbai and beyond to identify trends, potential issues and their impact on the mandate of the Office.
7. Knowledge of computer systems and software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel. PowerPoint, Access), Cognos, SAS and other statistical tools. Demonstrated ability to conduct advanced
SAS programming for data management and predictive modeling.
8. Banking or Insurance Domain Knowledge will be added advantage
