Principal Accountabilities:
- The candidate has to be BE (IT) and a full time MBA from a premium Institute. The opening is with a leading Life Insurance company and is based out of Mumbai.
Act as technology evangelist:
- Main purpose is to ensure company is ahead of completion and abreast with latest technology innovations.
- Scan completion landscape for technology or solutions that can be adapted in company scenario.
- Understand emerging technologies and solutions used across other industries that could add value in Company landscape.
- Pro-actively build a business case, influence stakeholders and validate the concept using prototype etc.
- Contribute to the overall technology-business solutions roadmap and have an active plan to meet the same
Projects Initiation Management:
- Involvement with the user team to finalise on the concept note, business case-benefits and approvals as per the policies and guidelines.
- On approval, prepare a project charter, draft plan and present detail of cost, time and scope to the appropriate authority (steering committee/governance body/function heads – IT and project sponsor) for approval.
- Organise all resources necessary to start the project on time.
- Organise a formal kick off meeting to present the approved project charter, project details, project team with their roles and responsibilities, project risk assessment etc to the governance body.
- Evaluate and recommend the buy-build decisions. (Where required – this could be a sub-project within an overall project).
Manage BAU projects - Scope, delivery, timeline and cost management:
Ensure Requirement gathering - Manage the Project Lead\Business analyst team to:
- Gather and analyse user requirements.
- Ensure completeness in gathering. This will require pro-actively getting into the shoes user and understanding all process aspects.
- Ability to think out o the box and make solutions that are simple, controlled and sustainable.
- Integrate user needs with current process and well and alignment with future changes.
- Creating the Functional Specification Document.
- Sign off on the FSD.
- Evaluate the requirements with the development team to arrive at gaps.
- Publish gap document and related customisation/development efforts along-with any cost-time impacts.
- Seek approval on the gaps.
- Manage development as per the timelines.
- Escalate any issues during BRS and development impacting the
UAT management: Oversee the activities of Test Lead to ensure:
- End users are educated on importance of UAT.
- Assistance is provided to the user team to develop test plans.
- Co-ordination with the user group.
- Documentation of UAT.
- Sign-off on UAT from the business group.
Overall responsibility:
- Manage the project as per approved budgets.
- Manage the project as per the approved plan and timelines.
- Deliver a robust, scalable and workable systems solution that meets the project scope.
- Submit periodic project progress reports to project governing body.
- Continuously track project against milestones and escalate any slip ups likely to impact project.
- Regularly Organise and conduct project team meetings to discuss plan, progress, issues etc.
- Take responsibility and decide on key areas impacting the project (Subject to governing body authorisation).
- Categorise projects and decide on the project priority based on the business needs.
Effectively manage the Closure phase of the projects assigned - Close the project by:
- Moving the approved UAT to production.
- Handing over the relevant areas to end user.
- Monitoring the user issues and ensuring systems stability in production.
- Ensure appropriate DR and back up measures are in place.
- Close the project in a formal meeting of the governing body with a sign off from all stakeholders.
Vendor Management: This will include:
- Selection: Preparation of RFI, Preparation of RFP, Evaluation of RFP's, Short listing of vendors, Recommend the final vendors to program manager - appropriate authority for selection.
- Management: Information on new technology/research purposes, Knowledge sharing, Information for prospective projects
Ensure application support is provided to all users with an aim to enhance customer satisfaction:
- Train and educate users to ensure optimal systems usage.
- Constantly manage and review system performance to ensure that the system is able to meet its deliverables as per TAT.
