Job Description - Reporting to the Worldwide Head of Indirect Taxes based in the USA, you will be responsible for – A variety of business projects and initiatives that require VAT inputs/advice for the company's businesses in the European Union region.
- Projects and initiatives may include mergers acquisitions, supply chain changes and ERP related initiatives for both Oracle and SAP.
- You will be working closely with the Global Director Indirect Taxes on these projects and initiatives and play the role of a subject matter expert.
- You will also be involved in VAT audits, litigation and other negotiation with government authorities for all European countries where the company has a presence. These activities would be closely aligned with the country representative based in the country or with local VAT advisors.
- Advising on complex VAT to internal customers or other global infrastructure functions.
- Reporting status updates, key issues and action items in a clear and concise manner to the Director of Global Indirect Taxes (this is a remote reporting relationship).
- Leadership skills to share knowledge and information with the VAT teams located in the European Union and other regions and also to facilitate the development of more junior colleagues and increase the depth of knowledge of the entire VAT team in the company.
The Successful Candidate - You need to have a Bachelors/Master Degree or University Degree or equivalent in Taxation/Law/CA. You must have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience and 7-10 years of overall practical experience in the area of valued added tax compliance and consulting for multinational companies with a complex supply-chain structure. An experience with one of the Big 4 Audit firms will be strongly preferred. Relevant experience needs to include a proven track-record on European VAT compliance work, VAT consulting on projects as well as involvement in ERP implementations or other ERP-related projects in SAP or Oracle. Compliance experience needs to include involvement in compliance activities for a number of EU countries as well as compliance process improvements. Excellent communication and business partnering skills are a must.
