Sr GM - Process Engineering Research Lab

Major Purpose of the Job:

A. Process Engineering Research Lab ( PERL ) activity

- Hand on experience of heading Process engineering Research Lab for more than 10 years

- Capabilities of design and development and fabrication of different innovative out of box technology for lab

- Experience on END to END conversion of batch process in to continuous process including all unit process and unit operations

- Process Intensification i.e application of developed Technology for dramatic Cost /process time/energy/man power reduction and for quality/yield improvement.

- Technology scale up and implementation at plant level. Knowledge of equipment modeling will be preferred.

- Process Optimization and process engineering support to R & D and technology transfer team for fast and smooth technology transfer.

B. Plant Operation related activity

- Process de-bottlenecking and capacity enhancement at plant

- Calculation of exact product cost and business strategy to achieve budget target.

- Operation Trouble shooting and energy conservation at plant

- Technical evaluation of CAPEX and project conceptualization

- Process equipment design and detail engineering

- Solvent recovery optimization and effluent treatment scheme

- Selection of utility system and utility network design.

- HVAC load calculation and system design

Principal Accountability:

A. Process Engineering Laboratory Research ( PERL) activity :

1. Technology development and Process Intensification

- Identification of critical process/ stage/operation for technology development and PI.

- Reaction study (Reaction kinetics, mass transfer, heat transfer, mixing dynamics etc) and deciding candidate for right technology.

- End to End conversion of batch process to continuous mode with flow chemistry and novel work up technology.

- Design and fabrication of prototype lab equipment OR use of developed technology

(G-L, S-S, L-L, S-L,G-S-L rxn and separation technology.

Knowledge and application expertise about different technology : Vapour - vapour reaction, falling film reactor, Microwave, Ultra sonic, Photo chemical, HSM, SM, CSTR, Spray technology, OBR etc

Use of developed technology like micro reactor, SPDU, Simulated moving bed.

- Basic engineering and detail engineering capabilities for continuous process plant

- Cost-benefit study at commercial level application

- System scale up for pilot/plant trial

- Layout, P & I diagram

- Commissioning trial till user satisfaction.

2. Process Optimization and process engineering support to technology transfer team

- Hand on experience with batch PAT like Rc1e, Multi organic synthesizer, DSC, with DOE tool for study and optimization of process.

- Process engineering package for scale up with Reaction kinetic, mass transfer, heat transfer crystallization, safety on reaction calorimeter.

- Scale up calculation, simulation of lab data with plant data by use of software like Chemcad and Dynochem.

- Design, layout, P & I diagram and suggestion for modification in plant set up in case of critical/complex reaction scale up.

B. Plant Operation related activity :

1. Process de-bottlenecking and capacity enhancement at plant

- Collection of plant data ( yield, time cycle, equipment volume, occupancy)

- Process operation monitoring and verification of data

- To find out different strategy of operation to enhance productivity/yield OR reduce time cycle and utilization of energy.

2. Trouble shooting and energy conservation at plant

- Operational trouble shooting for safe, quick and smooth operation of equipment and system.

- To enhanced solvent recovery with knowledge of design, energy and material balance basic calculations.

- Performance monitoring and evaluation of utility system and ETP

- ETP related issues.

- Finding alternate energy source to reduce down energy (fuel,electricity) cost.

3. Technical evaluation of CAPEX and project conceptualization

- Technical scrutiny of CAPEX demand.

- Discussion with user for his requirement

- Suggest alternative and cost effective options to user.

- To convince the user with technical evaluation of actual requirement.
