Sr Associate - Legal - Contract Management - Commodities

Opening with a leading Commodities Business company in Contract Management in Mumbai.

Main Purpose

- The incumbent will be responsible for drafting and reviewing sales/purchase contracts of physical oil products. This responsibility also includes identification of various trade risks and highlighting them to concerned departments for effective mitigation/provisioning.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensuring the correctness of contracts in accordance with business confirmation details of counterparty

- In depth understanding of counterparty contracts and commodity categories within the assigned portfolio

- Ensuring that timelines and targets are met thereby maintaining high efficiency level

- Work as efficient team player and demonstrate team-work in form of sharing work load of other team members

- Highlighting the perceived risks & trade inaccuracies etc to all stake holder departments & senior management and to ensure their successful mitigation

- Timely filing of contracts, amendments, communications etc in PLUTO (in-house database management software)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Strong business acumen and communication skills with sharp IQ

- Knowledge of international commercial terms (Incoterms 2000 and 2010)

- Experience in drafting/reviewing commercial contracts shall be preferred

- Sound knowledge in application of boilerplate clauses like Assignability, Force Majeure, Severability, limitations of liability, events of default/termination etc.

- Good understanding of commercial clauses like Commodity Pricing, Quantity and Quality determination, vessel nomination, laytime & demurrage, Letters of Credit etc shall be an added advantage

- Knowledge of functioning of Trade Finance, Operations, Claims, Deals desk etc in a commodity trading environment shall be preferred but not mandatory

- A degree in law and/or marine shipping experience shall be preferable
