Job Purpose Statement:

- Develop an understanding of the business needs and of compensation and benefits theories and practices appropriate to the local market place.

- Under guidance develop and implement defined pay and benefit programmes that are legal, cost-effective and in support of the local business needs.

Job Size:

- Focuses on one large country or several smaller countries

- Maybe a unionized environment

- Respects local legislation & cultural expectations

- Impacts payroll costs (salary & benefits) for the assigned country

Key Accountabilities:

1. Develops an understanding of the jobs within the business and the job evaluation systems and processes used. Supports local Comp. & Ben. Specialists by conducting the analysis of defined positions and by preparing recommendations and supporting rationale.

2. Under supervision, develops and presents business focused pay & benefit review recommendations (annual & ad-hoc) for assigned countries, which are based on objective data and include supporting rationale and costing.

3. Under the guidance, utilizes appropriate methods & sources (benchmarking / industry groups/consultants etc) to research market practices, trends, statutory requirements relating to specific aspects of compensation and benefits for assigned countries. Presents findings in a structured and logical format supported by appropriate rationale.

4. Supports the Expatriate Co-ordinator in implementing agreed I.C.T./expatriate packages by acting as a local liaison with internal departments, external tax consultants, and authorities. Provides ongoing advice and specialized support to the ICT/expatriate programme.

5. Utilises agreed with communication methods to inform employees and management regarding defined pay and benefit programmes/policies within assigned countries (pay review, pension plans, healthcare etc).

6. Uses defined processes and procedures (legal, accurate, comprehensive) for the implementation of local and/or divisional non-complex pay and benefit programmes.

7. Under the guidance, reviews the effectiveness of ongoing pay & benefit programmes for assigned countries by performing defined reviews of programme content, cost effectiveness & appropriateness.

8. Provides advice to management and employees on routine/less complex compensation and benefits issues. Under guidance responds to questions relating to complex or non-standard issues.

9. Develops an understanding of the business and compensation & benefits in the marketplace (legal requirements, methodologies, practices, and trends).
