Job Title: General Manager – Employee Relations
Reports to: Vice President - Human Resources
Work Location: Malad (West), Mumbai
Key Result Areas:
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Human Resource function by developing a progressive, business focused employee relations strategy that meets the current and future needs of the organization.
- Identify and implement positive employee relations programmes, in consultation with the relevant stakeholder groups, that will lead to a more efficient and motivated workforce.
- Provide responsive and high quality support, training and advice to all parts of the business including senior managers to ensure the appropriate management of all employee relations issues including in particular change management, grievances, poor performance absenteeism and disciplinary action.
- Manage the people’s aspect of any restructures within the organization, including redeployment and redundancies. Ensure they are completed within timescales and budgets and the appropriate HR support mechanisms are in place for the staff.
- Provide advice and guidance on all the ER aspects of pay and reward projects, changes to pay related terms and conditions of employment, pay reviews and their implementation.
- Develop and implement negotiating mechanisms with trade unions which support the annual review of pay and benefits together with any structural changes.
- Manage effectively all litigation and Employment Tribunal cases for Sodexo India and act as the ‘intelligent client’ for Sodexo India retained lawyers, protecting the reputation and finances of the organization.
- Ensure Sodexo HR Policies and Processes are current, conform to employment legislation and, where appropriate, are coherent with other government departments practices. Drive policies to ensure we promote diversity & human rights.
- Training and equipping line and other management for effective compliance with all labour law matters.
- Conducting periodic audits of pan India Statutory Compliance and ER related matters.
- Update on change in employment laws from time to time and periodic review of Minimum Wages.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of the health of the organization by developing initiatives and solutions to enable positive trends
Experience:
- A track record of delivery in the areas of planning and delivering of employee relation initiatives.
- Demonstrable experience of managing contentious people issues effectively together with high levels of emotional intelligence and strong inter-personal and communication skills.
- Experience of managing and developing a team.
- Ideally possess a sound generalist HR background with experience of managing people and a wide understanding of people issues.
- Able to demonstrate up-to-date training and experience in employment law.
- Proven management skills and experience.
