Simpa Energy India Pvt Ltd ( a wholly subsidiary of Simpa Networks, Inc) seeks a Controller to lead the accounting functions of Simpa Energy India Private Limited and Simpa Networks, Inc.

Responsibilities

The Controller will be responsible for the accounting, reporting and tax functions Simpa Energy India Pvt Ltd and its parent company Simpa Networks, Inc. The position will report to the VP, Finance and will be responsible for ensuring robust accounting controls, accounting quality and tax compliance.

Some important duties that will be assigned to the person will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Oversee the general accounting function, cash management and tax compliance of its head office in Bangalore, rural field offices and branch offices across India.

- Prepare standalone financial statements and MIS report of the Indian entity as per Indian GAAP

- Consolidate Indian entity financials into US entity financials and produce consolidated financial statements as per US GAAP.

- Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company’s geographically distributed assets are protected.

- Oversee the reconciliation of physical inventory with accounting systems.

- Oversee preparation of salary statements & Disbursements of salary.

- Ensure compliance with all Indian Indirect tax (VAT, Service Tax, Excise, Shops & Est), Direct Tax and Labour law regulations.

- Primary responsibility for interacting with statutory/tax auditors and ensuring smooth completion of audits.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce is required.

- Chartered Accountant qualification is required.

- US Certified Public Accountant qualification (in progress or achieved) will be advantageous.

- At least 6+ years’ experience in the accounting function and 4+ years of experience in leading the accounting function. A significant part of this accounting leadership experience must be gained at manufacturing and distribution companies having geographically distributed branches, field offices and warehouses.

- Experience with representing the company at Direct, Indirect Tax and ROC departments.

- Experience with preparing standalone Indian statement and consolidated (as per US GAAP) financial statements and MIS reports.

- Thorough knowledge of Indian GAAP and working knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS

- Highly proficient with Excel and Tally ERP. Knowledge of other ERP software is desirable but not required.

- Very high levels of integrity and willingness to work collaboratively.

- Experience in fast moving entrepreneurial organizations is preferable.

- Demonstrated fluency in Kannada, Hindi and English.
