ShortHills Tech - Data Scientist

We are looking for an Data Scientist with good business acumen. The chosen candidate will be working on a client in the Auto Maketplace sector and would responsible for developing all aspects of data mining, predictive analytics and solution development. The candidate would understand the business models of the client and help them manage customer churn and improve data monetization.

You'll be developing models and analytical approaches to answer questions our clients ask. Of course, you'll also be advising clients on what questions they should be asking. To be really good at this job, you can't be an order-taker, plugging data into models and feeding along outputs : you need to truly engage with your clients, understand their problems, and collaboratively think through solutions. 

You'll manage your own projects and deadlines, client relationships, scoping, and execution. We'll help you get your feet under you by providing advice and guidance, but you'll be expected to ramp up quickly.

Desired Skills :

- A strong track record and demonstrable interest in mining and analyzing data, looking for stories, patterns, trends and insights.

- Focus on developing clear and concise analytical approach for problem-solving

- Skilled in working with large and complex datasets with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

- Strong understanding of ML libraries and applications e.g. Time series analysis, Neural Net, SVMs, Boosting methods and implementation using R/Python.

- Develop hypotheses, design experiments, collaborate with engineering team on implementing the A/B tests, and evaluate their performance

- Proven achievements resulting from data analysis and ability to succeed in both collaborative and independent work environments

- Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

- Comfortable manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.

- Answer complex business questions by using appropriate statistical techniques on available data or designing and running experiments to gather data

- Understanding of e-market places and Auto sector would be a big plus

Qualifications :

- Grad or higher degree in stats, math, computer science, or similar

- Understanding of ML libraries and applications e.g. Time series analysis, Neural Net, SVMs, Boosting methods and implementation using R/Python.

- Knowledge of SQL and databases (relational/ Mongo)

- Knowledge of Python or R

Compensation : 12 - 30 LPA (based on Experience)
