Technology Manager - Retirement, Brokerage & Wealth Domain

This is a Senior Technology Manager position to support of our client. This senior manager will have managers and Tech Leads as direct reports and be primarily responsible for strategic and tactical management of the Development, Support and Maintenance teams for Wealth & Retirement Technology groups.

This Senior Manager will be responsible for :

- Managing a large (150 - 200 team members), high level technical area with direct impact to organization-wide objectives.

- Overall accountability for work from EGS for the area to deliver on-time, budget and quality.

- Establishes operational objectives and assignments and delegates assignments to direct report managers.

- Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have a company wide impact.

- Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible factors. Erroneous decisions will result in critical delays in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.

- Own the engagement models for effective work execution from EGS.

- Develop and execute on transition plan to seamlessly transition work to EGS and stabilize the operations.

- Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions and/or customers.

- Manages high-level staff and ensure that they plan and direct delivery schedules / assignments, and monitor project status in comparison to cost/time projections.

- Manages through direct report managers who exercise full supervision in terms of costs, methods and employees. May also manage high-level exempt staff.

- Manages and mentors managers within the group.

- Has hiring approval for all new EGS positions (FTE's and contractors) for the unit/area.

- Managing all departmental funding issues. Ensures budget (actual and forecast) meet operational requirements.

- Strategize the services and establish partnership with WFUS delivery teams and business for the area.

- Focus on business problems and early engagements on solutions for large and critical development projects.

- Strategize to act/react on changing needs of the working staff in offshore (India & Philippines) market in view of effective resource staffing/utilization and help the US teams to understand the true picture and risks involved.

- Provides technical leadership and management of core applications or systems that are highly integrated and complex.

- May manage strategic larger application or highly technical tactical assignments within an emerging technology.

- Defining and improving internal processes, such as work-flow, ROI and prioritization models for projects

- Manage the vender relationship for the portfolio in India and collaborate with vendor delivery teams for better delivery models/technology trends/opportunities.

- Encourages the team to innovate and identify industry best practices and facilitate those to implement them for the best use.

Essential Skills / Knowledge / Experience :

Skills required :

- 16+ years- experience managing offshore/onshore hybrid development & application support teams. Experience should include 10+ years- of management and/or leadership experience.

- Experience in development lifecycle management using Waterfall, Agile or other models.

- Experience in the banking industry or financial services especially in Wealth and Retirement business areas.

- Demonstrated ability of adapting to new technologies and having a broader understanding of technologies.

- Strong demonstrated human relations skills to select, coach, develop, mentor, performance manage and reward. employees

- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of contacts including senior level managers.

- Ability to build and lead a highly functioning team of senior technical resources.

- Ability to manage resources, finances and deliverables on a variety of projects, with changing priorities.

- Ability to deal with ambiguity (problem resolution, judgment, negotiation & decision making skills).

- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively across organizational lines and with virtual team members; strong relationship building skills.

- Strategic thinker with strong implementation skills; highly organized and self-directed; takes initiative

- Ability to think logically; excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

- Strong Financial acumen to manage budget efficiently.

- Works well in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

- Bachelor's degree or higher in technical field or business.
