PURPOSE: (Explain succinctly the reason for existence of the role)
Standard Chartered is a leading provider of banking solutions across emerging markets in Asia, Africa and Middle East markets. Within Human Resources, a key specialist function is the performance, reward and benefits (PRB) cluster.
The role is responsible for Performance, Reward and Benefit function across South Asia markets with specific focus on the salary survey process, bi annual performance and pay review activity, driving the wellness agenda across the region and performing an advisory role.
Some of the key deliverables of this role are:
- Drive the salary budgeting process across the country for different business lines
- Independently driving the market survey process for the region which interfaces with the group, shared services team and the will involve increasing stakeholder belief in the data and processes, standardisation of usage of outputs and networking within the market.
- Drive the interim and final Performance Pay & Potential (P3) processes from the perspective of the region, in line with Group guidelines and acting as a point of contact for their respective management teams.
Specifically
Manage the reviews
Lead discussions with the business teams in relation to the Group P3 messaging.
Coordinate all relevant business communications including P3 key messages
Manage other annual compensation process including budgeting and forecasting
- Collaborate with the survey vendors on market pricing to increase the level of consistency across markets, reduce vendor costs and generally ensure data is accurate and used by the business in an impactful manner.
- Providing counsel and perform and advisory role on compensation matters from time to time
- Engaging with Senior HR leaders to best shape and drive the HR collective agenda.
- Driving the Wellness agenda for the region
- Support Talent Acquisition team and ensuring reward structures enable attract the right talent, while aligning to the group principles - Offer Reviews, Buyouts, guarantees, bid backs
- Review Ask HR Knowledge Management System and provide / enhance solutions from time to time
- Continuous review and governance of the medical policy, vendor evaluation for benefit administration
- Engagement in Incentive Planning, Scorecards and Payouts
- Be the product specialist and lead for some markets in South Asia to drive end to end PRB agenda deliverables in the region
The role will be instrumental in gaining a deeper understanding of the PRB products in relation to the group policy, regional context and internal stakeholders and thereby deliver consistent, fair and transparent outputs, which will enable the HR unit make appropriate decisions at the right time. The role will be positioned to drive collaborative solutions across the PRB delivery chain and enable the delivery team act and communicate with - one voice- that ensure all our processes, initiatives, solutions are integrated and appropriate for the stakeholders.
With the end-to-end delivery and approval process in mind, the role will also take an active part in solutioning any product changes across the delivery chain
Some responsibilities of the role would be :
- Stakeholder engagement
- Upskilling and increasing the knowledge base within the PRB delivery team
- Proactively build a good understanding of the Bank's policies, processes and systems, ensure that PRB deliveries are in accordance with our governance frameworks
- Raising the PRB profile within the Bank and externally. To be seen as a trusted partner who is able to couple PRB expertise with a deep knowledge of the business strategy, external trends and customer needs, to generate innovative solutions and anticipate business needs.
- Act as the main point of contact for PRB Delivery and senior stakeholders and the central depository of subject knowledge
- Where appropriate and stakeholder relationships may rest with other PRB delivery colleagues, ensure that the knowledge / outcome of these relationships are captured and communicated appropriately within PRB delivery. Be the product lead
- Challenge the status quo with intellectual curiosity and personal courage, to promote ideation and creative thinking
- Promptly escalate any potential issues, such as, but not limited to, implementation challenges, project delays, risks, feedback and material deviation from approved scope to Senior Specialist - PRB, India & South Asia / , Head, Performance, Reward and Benefits products delivery, South Asia
- Perform other functions / special tasks that may be assigned by the Senior Specialist - PRB, India & South Asia, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ACCOUNTABILITIES: (List typical pre-requisites for high performance)
- A minimum of 6 - 8 years of experience in Human resources with atleast 3 - 4 years focused on compensation and benefits
- Experience in the BFSI sector either directly or as a consultant would be preferred
- Education qualification should be from a premier B school
- Strong analytical skills with strategic thinking and great attention to details
- Strong planning, organization and time management skills
- Strong relationship management skills
- Good project management and presentation skills
- Ability to manage various deliverables under tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills, self-starter, motivated, team player with good interpersonal skills to deal with all levels
- Highly proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
