Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager for Government & Banking Relations to join our field office. As the Manager of Government & Banking Relations, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively engage with government entities and banks, monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and advocate for our office's interests. This role requires a deep understanding of government processes, strong communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute customer coverage strategies to promote our organization's goals and objectives.
- Establish buy ins with major Indian Banks and Corporates
- Monitor key customer and counterparty activities at the local, state, and country levels, and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and other key influencers to advocate for our organization's interests.
- Represent our organization at meetings and relevant events to ensure our voice is heard and our concerns are addressed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop business initiatives, appropriate responses and action plans.
- Conduct research and analysis on government policies, initiatives, and trends that may impact our organization.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other materials to effectively communicate our organization's positions and priorities to corporate, banking and other counterparties.
- Engage in coalition building and partnership development with other organizations and industry groups to amplify our efforts.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and trends in government affairs to continuously improve our strategies and approaches.
- Manage budgets, resources, and timelines related to office in India.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of government processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and public policy issues.
- Strong proven relationships with Bankers at senior level in India and South Asia (Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, etc.)
- Relationship with Senior Management of Indian Industry
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively articulate complex ideas and influence decision-makers.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful government affairs strategies.
- Strong analytical and research skills to assess the impact of proposed regulations and legislation on our organization.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills to advocate for our organization's interests.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to navigate complex government processes and issues.
- Proficient in using relevant software and tools for research, analysis, and communication.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or a related field. A master's degree is also required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, banking, public policy, or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully advocating for an organization's interests in government settings.
- Proven track record of establishing limits/relationships with Indian Banks
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies affecting the industry.
- Previous experience working with government officials and policymakers at various levels.
- Extensive experience on trade finance and foreign exchange dealings with Banks
- Strong network and relationships with key stakeholders in the government and advocacy community.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel as needed for meetings, conferences, and other relevant events
