Job Description

JOB TITLE: Senior Risk Officer / Head - Risk (Internal grade - SM / AVP)

REPORTING TO (ROLE): Chief Executive Officer

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: The role of Risk Officer will encompass the analysis and reporting of risks in the following predominant areas:

1. Operational risk management

2. Business risk management (Inc BCP)

3. Investment risk management

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Business Risk Management:

- Facilitate the monitoring and management of business risks in the following key areas:

- KYC and AML

- Distribution and Sales

- Marketing & Communications

- Customer & Distributor servicing

- Implement an Incident/Errors management system and undertake root cause analysis

- Recommend to the business enhancements in controls to minimize future failures

- Prepare regular Risk Management reports to the Senior Management including key indicators and loss reporting

- Participation in any major change projects to ensure risks are identified and managed

BCP:

- Analyse the business activities and ensure back up procedures in the event of a disaster are in place

- Prepare and regularly maintain the BCP Communication Plan

- Ensure Co-ordination with the AXA IM Crisis Committee and Emergency Response plans

- Conduct regular BCP testing in conjunction with the IT team.

- Operational Risk Management:

- Establish suitable controls at responsible levels including 3rd party providers

- Ensure compliance with SEBI regulation and Operational Risk polices

- Ensure adequate control of all system related risks

- Validation of NAV's at reasonable intervals. All settlement relating risk including banking and custodian.

- Risks arising out of subscription/redemption/dividend processing and reconciliation. Back testing

- Recommend to the business enhancements in controls to minimize future failures.

- Prepare regular Risk Management reports to the Senior Management including key indicators and loss reporting.

Investment Risk Management:

- Monitoring of Credit and Counterparty exposures (Repo trades)

- Assess the level of investment risk within existing and new products

- Validate the methodology/model used to value investment instruments

- Oversee the empanelment of market intermediaries / counterparties

- Monitor all portfolio related exposures for equity exposures

- Drafting of ISDA documents, execution and mitigation of any differences

- Liquidity issues - stress testing

- Ensure appropriate monitoring of fund management constraints in accordance with SEBI regulations and Offer Docs

- Track the resolution of ratio breaches

- Produce MI in relation to ration breaches for senior management / regulators.

- Exposure to market data providers: Bloomberg, DataStream Other Areas:

- To ensure that there is an effective governance framework and reporting framework of risk management in line with the regulatory requirements.

- Implementation of Risk management framework across the organization.

- Put in place mechanism for risk reporting at least on a quarterly basis to the board of AMC, trustees and RMCs, covering all risks including risk metrics,

Job Description :

- escalation of material risk related incidents, timely and corrective actions taken, if any.

- Independent assessment of reporting of risk to various committees and CEO, etc.

- Put in place mechanism for reporting to CEO - Including outcomes for risk management function on monthly basis.

- In conjunction with more senior staff, incumbent develops, implements, and communicates risk-related policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:


- CA/ MBA-Finance / CFA from reputed Business school/University with strong analytical background and understanding of Business

- A minimum of 7 years of experience in Investment Management / Mutual funds in similar capacity of responsibility handling. Candidate from Internal audit firms having experience of Asset Management Audit preferred.

- Business focused and be solution oriented in his overall approach.

- Must have good understanding of Mutual funds Risk, Capital Markets, and Investment Management.

- Must possess a logical and practical bent of mind.

- Must have strong inter-personal skill and Team Management ability.
