Senior Legal and Compliance Officer
Core functions:
The Legal Counsel is responsible for the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex contracts in the field of mechanical and plant engineering as well as advising and supporting all specialist departments in legal matters, including:
- Drafting opinions and legal opinions
- Performance of training courses
- Consulting and support in the implementation of data protection requirements in business processes
- Out-of-court and - insofar as permitted by professional law - also judicial legal disputes.
- Processing of insurance law issues, in particular warranty and product liability cases.
- Coordination of external legal advisors
- As a Compliance Officer ensures that regulatory frameworks translated into compliance policies are implemented. Acts as an individual contributor and recommends change through presentation of facts and/or legislation.
- Defining the necessary level of knowledge on existing and emerging regulatory compliance requirements.
- Developing the annual compliance work plan.
- Providing guidance, advice and training.
- Overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the compliance program.
- Works with line managers on designing and executing compliance processes to meet the business requirements.
- Acts as liaison with department managers to communicate compliance requirements and ensure implementation of related policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Performs timely review of documentation for compliance with regulation.
- Recommends changes to company's policy and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate internal and external auditing focusing on corporate critical risks.
Qualifications:
- Fully qualified lawyer with admission to the bar.
- Professional certification or proven experience in compliance matters (certified compliance and ethics professional) is plus.
- Experience in risk management and internal audit procedures
- Has knowledge of government laws and regulations affecting the company's business area, and ability to interpret laws and regulations in light of operations.
- Proven experience of at least 10 years in this profile.
- Intermediate business administration experience
- Experience in working with inter department- Team work skills.
- Profound experience and knowledge in the field of Compliance, Contract, Commercial, Data Privacy and IT Law as well as Trade Law.
