Job Summary:
A Media Planner identifies which media platforms would best advertise a client's brand or product. He works within the agency to enable the clients to maximize the impact of the advertising campaigns through the use of a range of media.
Media planner combines creative thinking with factual analysis to develop appropriate strategies to ensure that campaigns reach their target audiences as effectively as possible. He applies knowledge of media and communication platforms to identify the most appropriate mediums for building awareness of a client's brand.
Key Responsibilities:-
Implementation
- Arrive at actionable solutions using secondary data analysis (BARC /IRS /RAM /TAM /TGI /OMD tools etc) and by drawing upon media planning experience.
- Collate knowledge from different OMD agencies & trading teams.
- To provide mid-campaign evaluation and take corrective action as required ensuring that campaign deliverables are met.
- Ensure that approved contract deliverables are created and sent as per the engagement calendar.
- Proofreading advertisement content before release.
- Recommend the most appropriate types of media to use, as well as the most effective time spans and locations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns in order to inform future campaigns.
Client Relationship
- Address all day-to-day ad hoc queries from the client.
- Provide quality analysis with action points for category competitive reports for clients.
- To alert client timely if there is likely to be a campaign delivery shortfall and take course corrective action in alignment with client.
Education and Qualifications
- Graduate / Post Graduate in Media Management
Essential skills:
- Commercial flair.
- Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, for liaising with colleagues, clients and media owners.
- Strong media software expertise - BARC/TAM, IRS, MAP, TGI, Comscore, RAM etc.
- Attention to detail: ability to spot trends and provide compelling insights through data analysis.
- Strong functional media knowledge with ability to consider media issues from a media-owner perspective; being updated with broad media trends.
- Ability to interact with people from a wide cross-section to get pertinent information.
- Media experience with a mix of media planning/buying/research or channel strategy /insights experience.
