Job Overview:
1. The Senior Manager Project Accountant is responsible for managing accounting activities for all businesses on aftermarket services projects and other assigned projects, performing account analysis primarily related to withholding tax analysis, federal and state taxes, and duties related to accounting for projects with unique contract requirements.
2. Manage the transition and regular project accounting operations of the teams.
3. Mentor the team to perform high-quality processes and maintain/exceed stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Lead the transition/migration of the Project Accounting Process
- Support the strategic initiatives of shared services for finance and accounting.
- Manage stakeholders, define and agree on service levels/KPIs with stakeholders, and hold monthly reviews to solicit feedback on the processes.
- Led and mentored the team to establish a scalable finance and accounting organization and maintain high-quality standards.
- Ensure hiring the right talent for the processes and ensure project timelines are met and within budget.
- Support the build-out of a fit-for-purpose operating model for the finance & accounting shared services.
Monthly Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accounting on aftermarket service projects and other selected projects in various businesses
- Interface with project managers and others responsible for the execution of aftermarket projects.
- Maintains financial information according to terms of contracts.
- Review contracts and understand the financial requirements of the parties.
- Project-related responsibilities - record project journal entries such as warranty/client support, open new projects when they are received, load project budgets into the system, provide Project Managers with requested cost analysis, and close projects on the system when they are completed.
- Prepare and upload selected project account analysis for multiple business units.
- Load prepared analysis to online document management system in time to achieve established due dates. Assure quality of account details. Review and make recommendations as required to manage balances.
- Gross Profit Forecast-New Forecast to Prior Forecast Analysis
- Gross Profit to go - Change from the prior forecast.
- Flash Gross Profit - Actual to Forecast comments.
- Reviewing contract capital reports concerning understanding project investment balances.
- Reconcile financial systems reports to ensure the trial balance equals project sub-ledgers.
- Learn to prepare reports using the JDE financial information.
- Interface with the project controllers and prepare a detailed cash report, which lists all receipts and disbursements monthly.
Monthly Closing Responsibilities:
- Prepare projects for the monthly closing process (book intercompany accruals of cost as required, etc.).
- Identify and book project accruals.
- Prepare and book Foreign Exchange changes and bank transactions journal entries.
- Transfer costs from proposals to project expenses, if required.
- Prepare detailed analysis of intercompany balances by project and interface with the project staff to ensure that intercompany activity is booked from the matching report as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's in accounting or finance (M.Com / MBA Finance / CA)
- Minimum 15 years of accounting work experience including transition/migration, financial operations, project/contract accounting (preferred), or cost accounting exposure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written English language communication skills.
- Good judgment, professional integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and as leader of a team.
- Experience working with JD Edwards and/or Hyperion Financial system is a plus. Else SAP
