Position: Senior Manager - Logistics Procurement

Position Overview:

- The Senior Manager - Procurement Logistics is responsible for being the single point of contact for to manage the Logistics, 3PL, on daily basis for smooth clearance of flipkart product categories being brought from/sent to different destinations. This role primarily works on negotiation of logistics vendor for transportation on Pan India basis. This position is responsible for working to develop a robust network of 3PL Partners who will handle 3PL operations specifically linehaul & warehousing.

- This position will handle the logistics procurement & addressing issues and advice on day to- day work done by the subordinates & other stakeholders & also updating the policy and procedure changes to the stockholders for availing benefits and compliance.

- This needs to have close coordination with the business development team, Logistics operations team, biz finance team and needs to partner with other functions like HR, Finance and legal to develop Logistics strategy, & manage terms and conditions while minimizing Flipkart liability/exposure. Candidate must have experience of managing transportation wherein service levels are critical and should be well versed with Airport and Terminal Operations. Awareness about technology trends in transportation, network planning and vehicle tracking. Should have experience in domestic logistics by working with Co loaders, Transportation companies who specialize in Line haul operations.

- Additionally, the SM, Logistics will create metrics for each contract and measure the vendors, performance against those metrics and report the findings to senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

- Finalize vendor/ 3rd party contracts, negotiation, review, renewal and termination. Ensure availability of transportation Arrangements at all times and at lowest cost. Liasioning with different Airlines and Terminal operators is a mandatory requirement.

- Recommend Vendors based on optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency

- Negotiate transportation rates or services for transportation of vehicles movement across Pan India.

- Owns and manages the 3PL partner working in defining required SLA's and monitoring the performance against the key Performance metrics based on the inputs from the operations team.

- Work cross functionally with Logistics operations, finance, operations and other stake holders.

- Create policies or procedures for logistics activities

- Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.

- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, or customer issues.

- Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.

- Controlling Freight and Transportation cost.

- Logistics cost control issues monitoring

- Proven skills in Vendor Profile Evaluation, Performance Assessment and Vendor Management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Graduate / Post graduate MBA preferred

- 8 plus years of experience working in Logistics function.

- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and must possess emerging market awareness and experience

- Experience in dealing with large number of suppliers with varied complexity.

- A self-starter and require minimal supervision

- Excellent communication (verbal and Written) and influence skills

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications

- Ability to travel.

Preference :

Express Industry, Contract Logistics &/or aviation industry having a strong operations background.
