Purpose of job:
To support the Head HR and SSC leaders develop and deliver the HR/people plan for Shared Services centre to build a high performing, motivated organisation, with a culture of customer service and delivery in support of the SSC vision and strategy.
The role is accountable for mainly the following:
1. Support the Head HR and SSC leaders design and develop the strategy for the organisation.
2. Lead initiatives to implement the strategy through culture based initiatives and reviewing and redesigning people processes.
3. Support the Head HR and SSC leaders in designing appropriate HR strategy aligning with the organisation strategy.
4. Lead on strategic people/ organisation initiatives aimed towards building better utilisation and effectiveness of human resources.
5. Lead and support the HR Business Partners and delivery leaders in implementing new business priorities and changes.
It includes effective working with:
- SSC leaders
- Members of with the Shared Service HR team
- The global organisation design and other relevant UK HR team
- Members of the General Management teams
The Senior Manager HR Strategy will provide subject matter expertise related to people practices and processes, bring in tools for strategic thinking by the HR team and SSC leaders, facilitate conversations around people practices aligned with the strategy of the organisation and support in building an organisation in line with the SSC vision of being a brand which is perceived as - building a personal connect, delivering with empathy and inspiring others.
The role holder must ensure that the changes are managed in a consistent way and in line with British Council Policy & Values.

Context and environment:
The Shared services centre consists of the following delivery areas. The delivery areas have expanded both in volume and accountabilities in the last 5 years. The Finance, COE and GIS teams have expanded through organic growth with more business being given to them; the India Contact Centre was a new delivery area that was set up in 2014. Current SSC headcount across the delivery and support areas is around 350 and can be ramped up to 460 keeping a utilisation of 1.3.
The SSC is benchmarked against the IT-ITES industry in India and is expected to have people practices as that of a leading knowledge organisation while maintaining alignment with the British Council. It is set up as a back office operations designed to deliver productivity and efficiency while delivering world class delivery services. While SSC has a full fledged HR team that delivers the people practices and manages the employee lifecycle in operational terms, it requires a strategic perspective in aligning the people practices with the organisation strategy.

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
For this role, the specific responsibilities will include:
- Design and deliver the annual vision and strategy workshop in collaboration with HR and General management teams while agreeing the terms of reference with the Managing Director and heads of deliveries
- Oversee the implementation (including possible detailed design finalisation) of the SSC strategy across delivery areas while taking into account the various delivery models and thus differentiated implementation plans.
- Support the Head HR in strategic employee life cycle initiatives such as goal planning and cascade in line with strategy, building a pay and rewards strategy, identifying learning and development initiatives key for meeting the strategy of the organisation. Support the Head HR in building the right Talent strategy for the SSC in line with its vision and strategy while understanding the British Council policies and frameworks.
- Support the Head HR and HR BPs in leading and managing the people change aspect across the delivery areas. Ensure that as organisational changes take place outside the shared service centre that these are well understood by the necessary people in the shared service centre and roles and responsibilities are adapted in a timely way to enable effective global working.
- Responsible for ensuring that the necessary training and learning needs are identified for the HR team and for the rest of the organisation in order to meet the vision and strategy of the organisation.
- Ensure, through training, excellent line management and clear roles & responsibilities that the right behaviours are displayed by all leaders and staff.
- Work with the all the members of the HR and GM teams in implementing key changes related to people practices.
- Support the Head HR in building an optimised HR structure in order to meet the organisational and business goals.
- Support the lead key people practices and culture interventions.
- Mentor the HR BPs, team members and interns while supporting on improvement projects.
Information Security
- Ensure that their workforce are aware of the information security policies and comply with them
- Ensures that the team complies to ISO 27001 and IGA related requirements
- Send account opening requests effectively
- Disable accounts immediately for leavers and Absconders /on long leaves
- Document and monitor / review access levels of his/her team
- Provide security awareness and education to team
- Manage Records to ensure compliance to Freedom of information act
- Ensure incidents of their respective functions are closed within SLAs
