Senior Manager of Engineering Excellence and Continuous Improvement
The Role:
- As the business embarks on an ambitious growth and value creation agenda, through both organic growth and M&A, there is a need to evolve our engineering processes and operating cadence, across all product divisions to support scaling of the business and driving profitable growth.
- The Senior Manager of Engineering Excellence & Continuous Improvement will lead the design and deployment of our engineering excellence and continuous improvement system for the engineering processes.
- The successful candidate will bring deep functional expertise, business acumen, leadership experience, influencing skills, and a track-record of leading significant business transformation / change management programs.
- S/he will lead the charge in creating the necessary processes, culture, and skillset in the organization to develop our capabilities, deep in the organization, in problem solving, lean transformation, kaizen, and policy deployment.
- The Sr Manager will work with a team of 6-8 experts in matrix and collaborate with various stakeholders to plan, organize, and implement Lean, CI initiatives leading to enterprise wide improvements.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Engineering and be part of the staff of the Sr. Director Business
- Excellence and Continuous Improvement in matrix relationship.
Key Responsibilities:
The leader will be responsible for the design and deployment of our engineering excellence and continuous improvement system for the business. Specific responsibilities include:
- Will support in development of the vision and strategy in order to drive execution excellence and deploy BU wide improvements
- Support Design of the engineering system, including the associated tiered accountability meetings at the CTO level and the next 2 levels to drive our business strategy execution
- Working with cross functional and engineering teams, drive continuous improvement projects, across the 4 product divisions and all functional areas
- Deploy proven problem-solving tools and process improvement methods widely across the organization. Build critical mass of trained / certified practitioners who can scale these techniques across the organization
- (Operating Advantage, our lean program) attainment goals / targets across IND BU engineering and sub verticals. Orchestrate activities cross-functionally so that targets are aligned with engineering strategy and priorities
- Partner with senior leaders to champion a continuous improvement mindset and culture in the organization
Year 1 success factors:
- Develop a deep understanding of Industrial Engineering System and the "current state" of deployment across the business unit. Identify near-term opportunities to secure quick wins. Develop and execute a plan to secure the quick wins
- Support in Developing a comprehensive vision and 3-year transformation plan. Engage with stakeholders and support to secure alignment with the senior leadership team and kick-off execution
- Partner with Engineering Directors and their teams across the business unit to strengthen the leadership commitment to business excellence and lean transformation. Be a coach to the team members and help them develop their lean leadership and toolkit
- Personally own and execute the creation / transformation of the Engineering tiered- accountability process for the business unit's value drivers and enablers
- Assess the talent transformation needed (number of practitioners needed and develop a plan to upskill / upgrade the organization) to accelerate our lean transformation journey. Secure leadership alignment on budget, timeframe, action plans and to execute the upskill / upgrad plan
Candidate profile:
- The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior-level Lean Expert / Transformation Leader from a highly regarded Industrial company that has deployed lean tools to achieve business results.
- S/he will be an experienced leader who brings credibility, gravitas, maturity, and cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the role to lead a comprehensive lean transformation and capability building ; from senior leadership to the individual contributor level.
An undergraduate degree in engineering is required with an MBA being highly desired. Specific requirements include:
- Deep knowledge of Lean philosophy and tools. Experience in executing lean / business excellence transformation at scale in an Industrial environment and track-record of delivering tangible results
- Highly effective communicator, with the necessary communication and presentation skills to inspire and educate audience all levels of the organization
- Challenger of status quo, capable team / organization builder, and effective problem solver
- Organization savvy, to motivate and influence stakeholders at all levels
