Background
The group is in the business of Employee Benefits and Insurance, Reinsurance Broking and has its presence through 110 companies in over 36 countries.
Team The Data Analytics team provides a wide-range of services/support to various operating units within the Group. This role is to support the global portfolio management (PM) team which works closely with the carriers (insurers) and provides them insight about the business that is placed through the Group worldwide. The team is expected to interact with global PM leaders and support them in data analytics of placements and prepare presentations with meaningful insights using the placement data.
Manager - Data Analytics
Role Requirements:
- The role requires the candidate to lead the analytics capability for the PM team closely collaborating with global PM leaders (based in USA, UK, Asia, Australia, Latin America and the Middle East).
- Be the PM team single point of escalation for data analytics and manage delivery across insurer relationship management and facilities analytics by the team
- Develop a strong business understanding of insurance broking through knowledge transfer sessions and meetings with stakeholders and insurers
- Leverage insurance and analytics knowledge to solution business intelligence based products to help build revenue for the co.
- Agree workflow from PM regions, prioritise for the team and provide regular updates to stakeholders on performance
- This is a hands-on role and thus the candidate should be willing to work on delivery of the outputs, and should have an ability to improvise and create more useful visualisation of data
- Generate and distribute standard reports on schedule using Excel, and other reporting software. Recommend tools(internal and external) to build capability of the function further.
- Collects and documents reporting / Dashboard requirements from requestors to ensure appropriate creation of reports and analyses. Uses peer-to-peer review process and end-user consultation to reduce report writing errors and rework.
- Analyse data sets and trends for anomalies, outliers, trend changes, and opportunities.
- Use the data to prepare regular and insightful descriptive analytics reports which should show the key trends.
- The candidate should be able to understand unstructured data and be able to prepare the data in structured format to deliver meaningful insights
- Support the team in preparing the annual benchmarking report and manage the large amount of survey response data to analyse the responses.
Technical Skills:
- Previous experience in general insurance industry is mandatory, preferably in analytics team or a KPO focussed on insurance analytics
- 6-8 years of progressive experience mining large complex data sets, using a variety of advanced quantitative/modelling techniques.
- Should be able to create dynamic dashboards using Excel / Tableau/ QlikView
- Proficiency in SQL/ R with broad working knowledge of methodologies used for advanced analytics is required. Apply investigative skill and analytical methods to look behind the numbers, assess business impacts, and make recommendations through use of predictive modelling, etc.
- Collaborative approach to work, in order to work with global setup with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to build and implement classification / regression models using R
General Skills:
- Very good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills need to be demonstrated
- Experience of managing teams is preferred.
