Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Research economic, financial, market, competitive, and industry data to recommend future opportunities to leverage current business trends

- Optimize sales and gross margin dollars by analyzing, evaluating and adjusting plans

- Partner with planning team to develop balanced investment and inventory strategies

- Manage the buying function and responsible for the assortment, pricing, and margin performance

- Provide market expertise that may include routine forecasting of short and long term price trends and availability

- Manage acquisition process (sourcing, developing, and negotiating) for categories ensuring competitive pricing, compliance with policies and limited risk

- Research and evaluate current vendors and develop relationships with new brands on product quality, price, innovation, and value added capabilities

- Establish cross-functional relationships in order to effectively maintain and grow business and financial expectations

- Accountable for gross margin performance and inventory levels against approved plans

- Responsible for the financial accountability and growth of business for respective buying category

- Assists assigned buying team in preparing plans for purchase under his/her jurisdiction
