Senior Manager - Business Operations (RMG)
Summary :
- The Resource Management Group team member is accountable for supporting the staffing and utilization efforts in the business unit by working with the RMG-Lead on staffing allocations.
- The responsibilities of this position include resource management, managing staff allocation and schedules, monitoring results and trends, regular and ad hoc reporting, MIS, communicating and negotiating with all required stakeholders, working closely with the RMG-Lead to track, complete and close all deliverables
Role and Responsibilities :
- Proactively oversee and manage the staffing needs for proposals, client projects and special internal firm requests, while balancing client needs, firm strategies, skills development, work-life flexibility and mobility considerations
- Working with stakeholders such as Partners, Engagement Managers, Performance Managers, L&D and HR, in order to understand the skills and areas for development for all assigned resources and proactively identify and leverage opportunities for continued development of skill and industry expertise
- Understanding the business unit strategies as they relate to required skills and expertise, and contributing to action plans to leverage and grow the business unit's capabilities
- Maintaining a strong working knowledge of the skills and experience for all assigned resources, plus other available firm talent pools and reporting the same on a regular basis Training employees on their roles and responsibilities within the overall resource management process, and the usage of the resource management systems in line with process
Engaging as appropriate in special projects such as :
- Understanding requirements and proactively identifying staffing options, matching resource skill and experience with project requirements
- Be a part of business meetings along with the RMG - Lead, Partners and TCTS leadership to proactively monitor and manage resourcing activities
- Support the RMG Lead for all matters relating to resource management and staffing for the assigned resources and business unit
- Proactive analysis of data such as resource utilization, bench management and resource forecasting and providing recommendations as appropriate
- Measuring, monitoring and improving the usage of resource management systems and processes, and working to ensure systems are continually updated
- Accurate and current data for trending, attainment, forecasting, and capacity planning, and that all resource management processes are being followed
- Maintaining a skills matrix which will provide a comprehensive view of skills across business units and service lines
- Performing mid-month and month-end analysis of utilization and identify developing trends and work to develop a course of action to reduce unassigned hours and achieve planned results
- Providing advanced warning of problems/ resource availability
- Keep abreast of better practices in resource management, and recommend and implement improvements as needed
