ROLE DESCRIPTION :
- The Team Lead will entail the role of managing a team in the areas of regulatory compliance of Trade and Treasury business.
- The role will require subject matter knowledge in the function of all trade and treasury products and operations and work with the business to monitor and set appropriate policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, expectations and industry best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensure that the Compliance framework is implemented in the Bank, including implementing and rolling-out the applicable Compliance policies, procedures and instructions to ensure that all products and services are in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations for Trade & Treasury products and business.
- Review guidelines and prepare accurate actionable items for the purpose of dissemination to Departments with defined timeline.
- Ensure that the management and staff are kept updated on regulatory matters pertaining to all cross border, inland trade and Treasury related sanctions, processes etc.
- Act as central point of contact for all matters to support and advice senior management and staff on all Compliance issues in line with bank internal policies / procedures / FEMA and applicable regulations set by RBI and any other sectoral (quasi) regulatory / statutory bodies such as FEDAI,FIMMDA etc.
- Provide guidance and undertaking reviews within agreed TAT or as agreed
- Work with the business / product teams to monitor and set appropriate policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, expectations and industry best practices.
- To monitor timely adherence to the guidelines and advise and co-ordinate on the regulatory requirements and be the primary point of contact for all regulatory compliance.
- Provide official written and informal guidance and advice on Compliance matters to the respective businesses as and when required (e.g. on a client, product or transaction basis).
- Undertake periodic, risk based, Compliance testing/monitoring to ensure the Bank's policies and procedures are being complied with and escalate to management significant non-compliance including reviews of existing / new products and services in line with product program / construct and identify / highlight critical high risk areas within the Bank and provide general guidance to staff through compliance advisories.
- Respond to all regulatory requests to review and provide relevant information (e.g. customer, transaction, policy, procedure, and training, compliance monitoring and process details) and cooperation in a timely manner.
- Be the primary point of contact for any correspondences of the Treasury and Trade Compliance function and providing the necessary cooperation during the monitoring and proper closure of correspondences pertaining to all trade, cross border and treasury related matters.
- Ensure that the management and staff are kept updated on relevant regulatory matters and assisting with applicable training in this regard.
- To conduct appropriate Thematic/Product testing in line with the approved framework and highlight the concerns to the Department and respective committees / Board.
- To take appropriate actions / controls around the concerns highlighted by the RBI, during RBI onsite inspection to check and validate various data points
- To recruit, train team members in order to perform key compliance activities in line with Banks policies and regulatory framework and exhibit leadership skill in order to monitor and appraise officials on an ongoing basis.
CRITERIA ELIGIBILITY :
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each activity satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of qualification, knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
i. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Graduates / post graduates with strong and hands on knowledge of Treasury, Trade related areas
- Certifications in the areas of Treasury and Trade will be an added advantage
ii. RELEVANT JOB EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of work experience in Banking/Financial Sector with first hand exposure in treasury and trade business and operations.
- Compliance experience or experience in audit, risk or legal in related areas will be an added advantage
iii. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Be a quick learner and self-starter, proactive with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while simultaneously contributing to the team.
- Good analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
- Good writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize findings and present in a clear, concise manner to peers and Managers.
- Ability to adapt to new changes and challenges in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize workflows and meeting deadlines.
- Good liaising skills
