About the Role:

We are looking for a competent Senior Director in Development to lead one of the merchant Engineering organizations in India. This group works with engineering teams globally, distributed across multiple locations in India and Overseas. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, as well as experience leading medium to large engineering teams. This person would be a motivated, self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity working in a fast-paced environment.

What you will be doing:

As Senior Director Development - you will lead a team of Software Engineers working on latest technologies to create highly innovative products for the eCommerce market. Delivery of high quality and secure product, great user experience while fostering innovations and ensuring a very high level of motivation in the team, and the ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.

- Provide technical leadership, articulate high-level technical strategy, encourage technical discussions, apply good principles for software development to drive the shipping of quality code into production and other development efforts.

- Build, grow, and retain excellent engineering teams to innovate, deploy best in-class software and frameworks.

- Define goals, KPIs, SLAs, and drive continuous improvements in product delivery.

- Participate in establishing and improving a strong engineering culture across Worldpay including hiring, performance assessments, career development, and engineering and operational excellence.

- Have rich experience in supporting cloud native applications, have migrated monoliths to the cloud from on-prem environments.

- Ensure compliance with software engineering standards and regulations. It includes ensuring the team's code is secure, reliable, and meets all security standards.

- Coach and mentor team and individuals in their professional growth objectives.

- Build an environment that attracts and retains top talent.

- Manage multiple product engineering teams.

What you bring:

- 18+ years of industry experience with 10+ years of experience in a product-based company, experience on the payments domain, with working knowledge of eCommerce.

- Experience leading engineering organization of 300+ at a company with large scale.

- Minimum 10 years of hands-on programming experience in Java based software development, with a focus on high traffic backend services, micro-services architecture, and distributed systems.

- Hands-on programming skills, ideally in Java with experience across multiple layers of the application stack.

- Strong skills in Java, OO-based design and development, spring, Spring Boot, hibernate, REST, GitHub and other opensource Java libraries.

- Knowledge of pair programming, test-driven development, and other best practices to release high quality products.

- Knowledge of engineering best practices and patterns in software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build process, testing and implementations.

- You have the ability to evaluate system designs for their scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
