Senior Customs Expert - Global Consulting Firm - Contractual Role

Our client, a global consulting firm, is working on project aimed at revamping the digital systems related to customs for a prominent government body in India. The goal is to modernise and streamline their customs processing systems to enhance efficiency and compliance with current regulations.

To support this initiative, they are looking to onboard senior customs experts with a deep understanding of Indian customs laws and digital systems used in customs processing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Identify and support resolving legal and process issues with current customs application processing

- Support in conducting a thorough review of the customs digital system and develop actionable recommendations

- Support the redesign of customs digital systems for enhanced integration and efficiency

- Assist in the preparation of an RFP for integrated customs systems

Your Background:

- Senior professional with 15+ years of experience, ideally in the customs or regulatory sector

- Experience working with the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Central Excise) is preferred

- Proven track record in dealing with Indian customs laws and procedures

- Familiarity with digital systems such as Indian Customs EDI Gateway (ICEGATE), Indian Customs EDI System (ICES), and the Risk Management System (RMS)

- Detailed understanding of Indian customs processes and digital systems

- Preference for candidates with a history of working with government agencies, such as ex-IRS officers or customs lawyers

- Education qualification - B.Com/M.Com/CA/CS and LLB/LLM (mandatory)

This is a contractual opportunity and will be on an initial 6-month contract. This role can be executed on a part-time basis in a remote setup and the expert will be required to support the team for 10 to 15 hours per week. The expert may be required to travel to Delhi/client site for important client discussions.
