Job Profile: Sr Compliance Specialist( from US Mortgage)

Job Family Group: Corporate Compliance

Job Profile Summary:

Supports the Line of Business as well as Compliance Management by researching federal and state regulations as well as investor guidance as needed. Reviews existing letters and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met. Validates remediation plans completed by the Line of Business to confirm all aspects of a Finding were considered and the issue was remediated appropriately. Reviews and approves internal and external correspondence to ensure compliance with federal, and state regulations, along with GSE, and Agency requirements. Works on projects as assigned by Compliance leadership.

Scope Responsibilities:

- Maintains a current comprehensive working knowledge of all mortgage processes and procedures as directed by federal and state regulations (especially those originating from the CFPB), in addition to GSE, and Agency guidelines, including all changes/updates.


- This includes staying up to date on required industry servicing standards, as well as the CFPB Mortgage Examination procedures.


- Works on special projects. Project assignments are broad, vary in scope, and require independent judgment, exercise of discretion and creativity to complete.


- Utilizes advanced reasoning skills to analyze, monitor, and manage the various projects and duties requested of the department.


- Utilizes broad base knowledge in multiple functional areas to solve problems and improve processes.


- Addresses barriers and obstacles, implementing solutions to improve on the current/past state.


- Independently manages time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals.


- Demonstrates Mr. Cooper values to external and internal customers, vendors, agencies, and investors.

Leadership Hierarchy:

- Operates effectively under limited supervision. Successfully builds and maintains strong relationships across multiple business areas. Participates in and supports strategic initiatives. Reports to Risk & Compliance AVP or VP.

Level of Decision Making:

- Requires the ability to consistently exercise discretion, independent judgment and decision-making authority on a variety of complex work assignments; demonstrates the ability to lead the work of others. Understands the business and uses information to make cost-effective decisions.


- Takes initiative to research the root causes of problems in order to generate a range of sol Seniutions and courses of action. May lead projects, both within and across other departments.

Education:

- Bachelor's degree preferred

Work Experience:

- Minimum of 5 years of related professional level work experience preferably in Default Servicing; or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.


- Proven track record of working/managing multiple processes and reports (internal and external).


- Prior job history or project work that shows ability to work independently, focus on detail, and ability to think of the big picture.


- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).


- Prior experience in researching federal and state regulations as well as agency communications and guides.


- Solid understanding of legal language with prior experience or exposure to the Legal world preferred.


- Proven track record of detailed, precise, and accurate work product that can be presented to leadership without much revision.

Technical Proficiency:

- Demonstrates advanced proficiency in all Microsoft applications and software necessary for job function. Capable of problem-solving using technical software or applications. Strong emphasis on data analytics. May be experienced and proficient in use of mortgage-specific software.
