Job Purpose :

The Senior Compensation Solutions Expert will be a member of the new Novartis Business Services Compensation Solutions Team, based in a centralized location.

The role of the Senior Compensation Solutions Expert is to provide cross-divisional Compensation solutions and services to HR customers within Novartis- primarily to the HRBPs and Managers in countries- against an agreed Service Level Agreement. Customer Focus and Quality Improvement are integral to this role.

The role is accountable for delivering following Compensation Services:-

Job & Position Evaluation :

- Annual Benchmarking & Salary Range Development

- Annual Compensation Review Cycle

Job Offer support :

As the Services develop and the global Compensation Model evolves, the Team will support all countries and become the subject matter experts on these cross-divisional activities for Novartis.

Major Accountabilities :

Planning :

- Coordinate and support processes and standards for core Job Evaluation and Benchmarking services and solutions with the respective Practice Networks and IT as required

- Help with conducting assessments of processes to investigate and define solutions that deliver business value and drive continuous improvement

- Support / participate budget planning discussions and SLA process

- Maintain documentation (work instructions) and plan updates as required

- Propose enhancements / modifications / continuous improvement, handle change requests, perform knowledge management using appropriate tools

Monitoring & Control :

- Perform quality job evaluations within agreed timelines (including maintenance of the current job evaluation system) and act as a subject matter expert for all related topics to HRBP / In-Country cross-divisional Compensation Experts

- Ensure job evaluation is performed according to Novartis principles/guidelines and process for assigned client group,

- Apply governance

- Ensure stakeholder management

- Ensure consistency of role calibration across defined assigned area

- Perform regular audits of new role evaluations within region

- Keep close link with global GJFA lead

- Together with external vendor, coordinate the annual compensation benchmarking activities and maintenance of salary ranges.

- Participate in survey provider matching meetings where feasible

- Manage survey vendor to ensure data submission to external surveys happens in line with Novartis principles, quality standards and contractual obligations

- Validate the matches between Novartis jobs/ positions and external survey providers and ensure this is aligned with in-country C&B / HR. Validate salary ranges and propose them to countries, ensure the ranges are provided as input into the annual review process

- Provide job offer support by applying Novartis principles on sign-on and buy-out awards and obtaining the appropriate approvals according to the Novartis governance process. Provide C&B consultation regarding job offers.

- Contribute to the Annual Compensation Review process to HRBPs / In-Country cross-divisional Compensation Experts e.g. propose the merit budget for relevant countries and coordinate the annual compensation review process.

- Periodically monitor and review performance against SLAs and take action/corrective measures in case of issues; inform and / or escalate to Supervisor / Management as appropriate. Define HR KPIs for the relevant area of responsibility and drive actions to ensure achievement

- Ensure compliance with legal framework, Novartis HR practices and guidelines, SOX requirements, data protection, etc. and provide training to HR & Line clients where needed.

People & Organization :

- Interact mainly with HRBPs, Line Managers and In-Country Cross-Divisional Compensation Experts

- Advise and support supervisors in data analysis and evaluation

- Provide expert support for coaching the organization on HR processes

- Support cultural change and foster diversity and inclusion within the Unit

- Potential to manage survey vendors as the service evolves

- The Senior Compensation Solutions Expert will also be responsible for managing the customer relationship with the C&B Country Lead, including service reviews and acting as single point of contact for C&B Country Leads.

- The Senior Compensation Solutions Expert may be the dedicated point of contact for a Novartis division and coordinate analytical support for that division within or across countries.
