Senior Associate (AVP) - Fundamental Research

The following position is for one of our top clients, a leading global investment bank's Investment Research Centre of Excellence based in Mumbai.

We Have Multiple Openings For AVP Fundamental Research Across the following Sectors:

Consumer

Industrial Tech and Mobility

Natural Resources and Climate Tech

Role and Responsibilities :

The Associate will work with multiple onshore analysts across regions to deliver short to medium term research projects.

The role will focus on the coverage of companies in one of the above mentioned sectors with work slate involving financial analysis of company's performance, financial modelling and valuations, creating and maintaining sector specific databases, newsletter, writing equity research notes and thematic and industry notes. As the associate becomes proficient on the role, there may be opportunities to interact with the management of companies and clients. The associate will work closely with associates having skillsets in data analytics, accounting and research preparation for high quality deliverables from the Mumbai office.

Types of projects / tasks may include, but are not limited to:

- Creation and maintenance of excel models for industry sub-sectors and companies under coverage

- Tracking of sector news and non-covered companies as well as analysis of periodic statistical data

- Constant collaboration / information exchange with fellow associates covering the Consumer, Industrial Tech and Mobility or Natural Resources and Climate Tech sector across geographies

- Background analysis as a part of active research on a company / theme

- Maintenance research products such as preview notes, results notes and sectoral data trends.

- Completion of ad hoc client requests, often to tight deadlines

- Assistance in initiation of coverage on new stocks and project deal reports

- Preparation of marketing presentations for lead analysts

- Support in developing new products

Education :

The candidate will hold one of the follows: CA (preferably from Big Four Accounting Firms) or MBA from a premier academic institution. CFA certification is desirable.

Experience :

3-5 years of equity research experience with basic knowledge of the Consumer sector (Tobacco, Beverages, Consumer Staples, Consumer Discretionary, Luxury Goods and Retail) OR the Industrial Tech and Mobility sub-sectors (Capital Goods, Autos, Aerospace and Defense, Infrastructure, Building Materials and Transport) OR Natural Resources and Climate Tech Sector (Basic Materials, Metals and Mining, Utilities, Renewables, Energy) is preferred. Previous experience of working On these sub-sectors is preferred, but not mandatory.

Skills:

- Strong financial and analytical skills to critically dissect earning reports and develop detailed financial models to produce rigorously supported valuations.

- Good data management and analysis skills and a high degree of comfort with Excel; should be comfortable in maintaining and updating databases.

- Good writing skills (good at structuring the report and articulating the key findings); ability to synthesize ideas in clear, logical written English.

- Knowledge in sectors such as Tobacco, Beverages, Consumer Staples, Consumer Discretionary, Luxury Goods and Retail is preferred but not mandatory.

- Familiarity with research databases such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Factset, Nielsen, Eviews, Stata, Haver, Macrobond

- Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with companies and overseas colleagues.

- Ability to work under time constraints, handling multiple priorities, with minimal supervision, and in a team environment.

- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

The candidate should be a pragmatic "self-starter", who can work independently if the analyst is traveling or as part of a team.
