Title: Sr. Area Sales Manager (Retail)

Function: Sales

Business Area: Retail

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager

II. Key Responsibilities

A. Sales Performance & Growth:

- Achieve assigned sales and revenue targets for all products across merchant categories.

- Develop and execute effective distribution strategies through channel partners and direct sales channels.

- Monitor lead generation and customer acquisition across all channels, ensuring high quality.

- Track competitive activity and implement relevant counter strategies.

- Manage promotional activities to drive sales and build market share in the assigned territory.

- Oversee the expansion of the retail distribution network by appointing new distributors and managing existing ones for optimal performance.

- Achieve targeted expansion of retail coverage by increasing the number of outlets in existing and new geographic areas.

B. Team Management & Development:

- Build, lead, and motivate a high-performing sales team.

- Manage the sales team's recruitment, development, and performance monitoring.

- Implement effective training programs to enhance the team's skills and knowledge.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to the sales team.

C. Strategic Thinking & Execution:

- Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, even in ambiguous situations.

- Exhibit a "bias for action" and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

- Develop and implement effective strategies to manage and overcome market challenges.

III. Required Skills & Experience:

- Minimum 3 years of experience in field sales within the Telecom, FMCG, or FMCD industries (specify preferred experience level).

- Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi (or other relevant languages).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Proven ability to handle ambiguity and think strategically.

- Demonstrated experience in team leadership, coaching, and talent development.

- Excellent organizational skills and time management capabilities.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or similar) and CRM software preferred.

IV. Additional Information

- This role requires travel within the assigned territory.

- A valid driver's license may be required (depending on location).
