Business Description :

The Fixed Income and Currencies unit (FIC) brings together Global Liquidity Management (GLM), Foreign Exchange, Rates & Credit Trading and Markets Electronic Trading (MET) into a single Fixed Income platform.Operating as a single platform will create scale opportunities by delivering a central strategy around business origination, structuring, distribution and technology platforms.

The FIC unit will enable CB&S to respond to the combination of increasing automation, regulatory expectations and client demand for increased standardisation and transparency in execution across fixed-income and currency markets.

Position Description :

The position is within the FIC team and forms part of the broader Finance Function. The Finance division partners with the business and other stakeholders to monitor performance, manage costs and deliver the strategic agenda.

This requires Finance to spend increased time on Planning and analysis, educating stakeholders on cost reduction, financial risk management, strategic planning and credit decisions. These evolving expectations, along with changes in the regulatory landscape, present new opportunities and challenges to the Finance organisation.

In order to meet these challenges, the structure of Finance has developed with the creation of the Finance Director / Finance Manager, Analytics, COO and Specialist roles.

Within the Analytics framework, there are Functional and Product focused teams covering :

Business Performance Reporting & Review :

- Revenue, Cost and Balance Sheet for Executive Committee members and other key stakeholders.

Financial Resource Management :

- In depth analysis of Balance Sheet, RWA, Leverage/CRDIV, TCD

Strategic Planning :

- Development of analytical capabilities with particular focus on performance measurement & planning exercises including the business portfolio review & annual Plan

Management information :

- Assist in the design, build-out and continuing development of regular analysis for Finance and Business Management

P&L Analysis :

- Performance review pf P&L at the lowest desk level

As an analyst in the FIC team, the individual and team have a critical role in providing analysis across all areas of the business including revenues, costs and financial resources.

As a member of the FIC analytics team you will be expected to contribute towards the following outputs/initiatives :

- Performance analysis of the business against key targets and benchmarks

- Understanding market drivers affecting the underlying business

- Providing financial input and context into group and senior management

- Providing revenue commentary in consultation with FDs and traders

- Responsibilities will also encompass other ad-hoc project related analysis work

- Develop the skills, knowledge and processe to deliver in a timely fashion

- Understand and deliver an agreed - book of work-

- Continuously develop and apply technical knowledge on Balance-sheet, RWA and regulatory developments as applicable

- Understand regional nuances in order to provide value-added support to the region

- Work with other members across the team to understand different businesses

The team enjoys a close working relationship with the desk and interacts with numerous support functions within the bank which include: Trading,COO, Group Finance, Market Risk Management and Global Business Services (Operations, Trade Management, PSCs)
