Scrum Master - IT

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

TheScrum Master in IT is a servant-leader of a cross-functional new product development team focused on iterative and incremental delivery. The Scrum Master promotes Agile life cycle management using the Scrum.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Major Accountabilities (Duties may include but are not limited to)

- Facilitate Scrum events

- Promote Agile life cycle practices leading to Scrum team success in delivering valuable product on a cadence

- Helps coordinate Scrum team capacity planning

- Promote adherence to standard process, use of tools, and established project delivery standards

- Identify and implement process improvements, onboarding, reporting improvements and training as required within and across Scrum teams

- Knock down team impediments

- Facilitating backlog grooming sessions

- Ensure all processes are followed so that Scrum teams boards represent accurate status of Sprints and team backlog

- Reflect issues to the team through observation from outside of the team

- Attend/facilitate Scrum of Scrums as needed

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (INCLUDING EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

- Bachelors degree required

- 10 - 12 years of relevant experience in Information Technology environment

- 1-2 years of experience as a Scrum Master for software development teams

- Scrum Master Certification is preferred

- Full member of a Scrum team that successfully completed at leastone formal production release cycle required

- Experience in any one technology area (e.g., database design/data modeling, coding/development, architecture, UI/UX, etc.)is preferred and a strong learning mindset is a strongly preferred

- Possess an excellent understanding of the Agile philosophy and one or more of the following methodologies: Scrum, Scrum at Scale, Kanban, eXtreme Programming, test-driven development

- Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Serveris preferred

- Analytical thinker with strong analysis skills, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

- Self-starter and quick learner who can take initiative and work both independently and with a team

- Ability to establish strong working relationships with both technology and business stakeholders

- Strong interpersonal skills and solid written and verbal business communication skills, with superior command of business and technical American English

- Understanding of Agile at scale techniques such as Scrum of Scrums (SoS) is added advantage

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work effectively with teams

CONDITIONS OF WORK

The job holder will be required to work additional hours as necessary in order to fulfill the requirements of the role and be available for International travel on an infrequent basis.
