About the company:

Since 2008, over 1.2 million people have been killed in road crashes in India and over 6 million have been left seriously injured or permanently disabled. Majority of those killed come from poor backgrounds and are in the age group of 15-45. Besides the emotional trauma that hundreds of thousands of families must suffer each year, road crashes lead to an annual economic loss equivalent to 3% of Indias GDP or US$ 70 Billion.

SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF) is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to improving road safety and access to emergency medical care across India. SLF connects research, advocacy, communication and execution (RACE) to operate at the intersection of policy making and grassroots implementation, for crash prevention as well as post-crash response. In the recent past, SLF has been instrumental in getting India a Good Samaritan Law a nationwide policy to insulate those who assist the injured from ensuing legal and procedural hassles; introduction of a comprehensive road safety bill in the Parliament; training of over 15,000 Police personnel and truck drivers in safety and rescue skills; and reduction in road deaths in Delhi as a city (30%) and the Mumbai Pune Expressway as a corridor (40%). SLF was recently recognized as the Best NGO in India by the Rockefeller Foundation and is also the recipient of the prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award.

In order to scale its proven model to save more lives, SLF is expanding its leadership team and hiring a Program Director to lead the expansion efforts.

About the role:

The Program Director, Vision Zero will work closely with the CEO, Piyush Tewari, and the rest of the SLF team to lead and manage the flagship Mumbai Pune Expressway Zero Fatality Corridor (MPEW-ZFC) Project and other similar initiatives. The position requires a candidate with proven leadership and general management experience, preferably in managing a public health issue.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the development, planning and execution of Vision Zero projects, particularly the MPEW-ZFC

- Develop, manage and retain relationships at the highest levels within the State government, implementation partner agencies, vendors, service providers, donor(s) and such

- Take charge of day to day coordination with government agencies, vendors and partners

- Establish and implement protocols and tools for project evaluation and measurement

- Strictly ensure budgetary and reporting compliances

- Aggressively pursue areas of weakness in the project to transform them into areas of strength

- Represent the organization and the initiative at external events, conferences and workshops

- Provide leadership to the project team and ensure optimal staffing of the project by owning recruitment for additional resources, as and when needed

Does this sound like you?

Requirements (or Must-Haves):

- 10+ years of experience in stakeholder management across corporate and government sectors

- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Hindi, English and Marathi

- Willingness to travel across India and internationally

Preferred (or Nice to Have):

- Experience in project management

- Experience with CSR projects

- Bachelor's/ Masters degree in public health, public policy, social service or equivalent programs from a top-tier institution
