Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Research Lead specializing in Political and Public Policy research. As the Research Lead, you will be responsible for leading and managing research projects related to political and public policy issues. You will provide strategic direction, oversee research activities, and deliver high-quality insights to support decision-making processes. This position requires in-depth knowledge of political systems, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to lead a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Research Planning: Develop and implement research plans and methodologies to address key political and public policy issues. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify research objectives, establish timelines, allocate resources, and ensure research projects align with organizational goals.
2. Research Project Management: Lead and oversee research projects from conception to completion. Manage research teams, assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary data, information, and resources for research activities.
3. Data Collection and Analysis: Design and execute data collection methods, such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and data mining. Collect and analyze relevant data and information from multiple sources, including academic literature, policy documents, and public opinion data. Apply statistical and qualitative analysis techniques to derive meaningful insights and trends.
4. Policy and Political Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of political systems, policies, and regulations. Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of existing policies and propose recommendations for improvement. Monitor political developments, legislative changes, and public sentiment to inform research findings and support evidence-based decision-making.
5. Report Writing and Presentations: Prepare clear, concise, and well-structured research reports, white papers, and policy briefs. Communicate research findings, insights, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders through presentations, workshops, and meetings. Ensure research outputs are accessible, actionable, and tailored to various audiences.
6. Team Leadership and Mentoring: Lead and inspire a team of researchers, providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, encouraging professional development and growth. Promote a culture of high-quality research, critical thinking, and intellectual rigor within the team.
7. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with policymakers, government officials, advocacy groups, and other relevant stakeholders to build relationships, share research findings, and contribute to policy discussions. Represent the organization in conferences, seminars, and public forums, presenting research insights and thought leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field. A strong academic background is preferred.
- Extensive experience in conducting political and public policy research, preferably in a research lead or management role.
- Excellent knowledge of political systems, policy-making processes, and public administration.
- Proficiency in research methodologies, including both qualitative and quantitative techniques.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey research findings to diverse audiences.
- Experience in managing research projects, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software and data visualization tools.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a research team.
- Ability to work collaboratively and establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of ethical research practices and principles.
