Job Title : General Manager (GM) Distribution Location: Mumbai
Reports To: Joint Managing Director
Job Summary :
- The General Manager (GM) Distribution will be responsible for overseeing the entire distribution network, ensuring efficient logistics operations, and optimizing supply chain processes.
- This role will lead a team of distribution professionals to enhance customer satisfaction, manage budgets effectively, and drive continuous improvement across all distribution functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Distribution Network Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive distribution strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Optimize transportation routes, warehousing facilities, and inventory management systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with third-party logistics providers to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor and analyse distribution performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Warehousing and Inventory Management:
- Oversee warehouse operations, including the efficient receiving, storing, and shipping of products.
- Implement robust inventory control systems to minimize stockouts and reduce excess inventory.
- Ensure adherence to quality control procedures for product handling and storage.
Transportation Management:
- Coordinate and manage all transportation activities, including truck, rail, and air shipments.
- Negotiate transportation rates and contracts with carriers to optimize costs.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
Customer Service:
- Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures to enhance the customer experience.
- Manage customer inquiries, complaints, and returns effectively.
- Monitor customer satisfaction levels and identify opportunities for improvement.
Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of distribution professionals, including warehouse managers, transportation coordinators, and customer service representatives.
- Provide training and development opportunities to foster professional growth within the team.
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the distribution department's budget, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities to improve profitability.
Required Competencies and Skills:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in distribution management within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience managing large-scale distribution networks for pharmaceutical products.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations and standards such as Good Distribution Practices (GDP), temperature control requirements, and other relevant pharmaceutical regulations.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to formulate and execute long-term distribution strategies.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis and trend identification to inform decision-making.
- Problem-Solving: Strong capability to address challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading and motivating teams to achieve results.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Negotiation: Skilled in negotiating contracts and agreements effectively.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of supply chain management principles, transportation
regulations, and inventory control systems.

Desired Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
- Experience: 15 to 20 years of experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain management, with a proven leadership background.
