Profile Summary:
As the Category Manager - Credit Cards, you will own and drive initiatives that shape the future of our cards business. You will work cross-functionally with teams such as product, marketing, risk, operations, and technology, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet business goals. Unlike traditional program roles, this position requires hands-on problem-solving across various domains and business challenges, not just stakeholder management.
You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities to enhance product offerings, improve processes, and deliver superior customer experiences, leveraging your ability to manage multiple projects and tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Job Title : Category Manager - Credit Cards
Education : BTech/MBA/CA from a reputed institution.
Experience : 4+ years of Banking experience in managing financial products, program management, PnL management roles, with exposure to Credit Cards (preferred) or any other retail loan products.
Location: Bangalore
Key Responsibilities:
Product and Program Ownership:
- Lead the end-to-end development and execution of strategic initiatives related to our cards product portfolio.
- Define, prioritize, and drive product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demands.
- Act as the primary owner for specific card products or programs, ensuring their success from ideation through execution and optimization.
Problem Solving & Execution:
- Tackle diverse and complex business problems, identifying root causes and developing innovative solutions that drive business growth and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure challenges are addressed and opportunities are captured in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop business cases for new initiatives, working with finance, analytics, and senior leadership to quantify potential impact and prioritize execution.
Cross-functional Project Management:
- Manage large-scale projects across multiple teams, ensuring seamless collaboration between stakeholders from product, technology, marketing, risk, and operations.
- Drive initiatives related to product enhancements, process improvements, customer experience, compliance, and other key areas.
- Maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects stay on track and within scope.
Customer Experience & Market Insights:
- Continuously analyze customer needs, market trends, and competitive offerings to ensure our card products remain relevant and competitive.
- Partner with research, UX, and analytics teams to gather insights and identify key opportunities for improving product features, pricing, or delivery channels.
- Collaborate with marketing and customer service teams to ensure cardholder engagement and satisfaction is optimized across all touchpoints.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Leverage data to inform product decisions, track key performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement or innovation.
- Work closely with analytics teams to design and implement experiments (A/B testing, customer segmentation, etc.) that help refine product offerings and customer experience.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor the health of the cards business and provide actionable insights to leadership.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as the liaison between business, technical, and operational teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment across the board.
- Present regular updates to senior management on project progress, key risks, and opportunities, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the lifecycle of initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops, meetings, and working sessions to resolve challenges and drive alignment on key business goals.
Skills & Persona:
- BTech/MBA/CA from a reputed institution.
- 4+ years of experience in product management, program management, or business management roles, with exposure to cards, payments, or financial products preferred.
- Experience as a generalist in business teams, category management, or program/project teams with a demonstrated ability to solve a wide range of business problems.
- Prior experience in credit card or payments industry is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of tackling complex challenges and delivering effective solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence across various functions and levels of the organization.
- High level of comfort with data, analytics, and financial modeling, with a proven ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Project management experience, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to drive teams towards on-time delivery.
