Position Description:
- RTI India is hiring a Power System Planning and Modeling Specialist on the recently awarded USAID-funded South Asia Regional Energy Project.
- Responsibilities of the Power System Planning and Modeling Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- Develop process and system for enhanced coordination amongst utilities and market participants to ensure better planning of transmission system.
- Identify technologies to enhance integration of renewable energy, increase market access, and improve network efficiency.
- Enable regional cooperation toward harmonization of codes and standards across the South Asia region.
- Review and recommend policies, regulations, etc., to improve power system planning to enhance key objectives such as increased adoption of VRE and enhance market participation and regional trading.
- Provide technical inputs to CEA, CERC, POSOCO, state utilities, SLDCs, etc., in adoption of advanced power system planning approaches and tools to enhance efficiency, resilience of power system, and to improve the quality of electricity supply.
- Document best practices and lead capacity development of power system planners in adopting new techniques and tools.
- Review and develop standards, specifications, bid documents and support evaluation to enable adoption of advance planning techniques and tools.
- Lead capacity development initiatives on power system planning.
- Prepare and author reports, research papers, articles on SAREPthemes.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on SAREP themes to disseminate results.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power System Planning, Transmission, Economics, or related field with 10 years of experience; or bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering) with 12 years of experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in power system planning using tools such as SDDP/PLEXOS.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, technical staff andclients.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teammembers.
- Motivated and able to work under challenging and fast-pacedenvironment.
- Well networked with GoI agencies such as CEA, CERC, POSOCO, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy etc.
- Well networked in South Asian energy sector particularly utilities and regulators.
- Ability to effectively prioritize workload, self-manage and complete tasks to best meet project needs.
