We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Revenue Accountant to join our finance team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in revenue accounting, specifically under US GAAP, and experience with NetSuite. The Revenue Accountant will be responsible for managing revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and performing various reconciliations and journal entries.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Recognition:
- Oversee and manage the revenue recognition process in compliance with US GAAP. Ensure accurate recording of revenue in accordance with accounting principles and company policies.
NetSuite Management:
- Utilize NetSuite ERP system for revenue accounting tasks, including setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Deferred Revenue Accounts:
- Reconcile and manage deferred revenue accounts to ensure accuracy and proper accounting treatment.
Journal Entries:
- Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records.
Monthly Reconciliations:
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations to verify the accuracy of revenue and related accounts.
Revenue Schedules:
- Maintain and update revenue schedules to reflect accurate revenue recognition and forecast.
Month-End Closures:
- Assist in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements related to revenue accounting.
Audit Support:
- Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and addressing auditor queries.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in revenue accounting or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
- Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Experience with reconciliation of deferred revenue accounts and monthly account reconciliations.
- Ability to prepare and analyze revenue schedules and journal entries.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent.
- Experience in a similar industry or with complex revenue streams.
- Familiarity with advanced accounting concepts and financial reporting.
