- Working with research team in Delhi and R&L globally to deliver a portfolio of research for one or two programmes of work to inform media production and meet donor requirements.
- Lead or support the development of research plans, research instruments and sampling design, commissioning of agencies for qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and interpretation, reporting and dissemination of research findings on time, to budget and to high quality.
- Plan and monitor resource needs, including creation and input into Gantt charts and research, project and programme plans, and budget oversight.
- Support and develop research team, including coaching, mentoring and/or training to develop their research and project management skills.
- Undertake, and support others to design and undertake quantitative and qualitative data analysis, ensuring that the interpretation supports development of media products.
- Engage proactively and collaboratively with non-research staff in country offices including Country Directors and creative, production, project and finance teams to support the development and use of research in the production of organisation's creative outputs.
- Prepare and deliver internal (senior management, project managers, production teams) and external (the donor, media partners) research presentations and reports which will inform the creative process, monitor and evaluate project effectiveness, and/or contribute to project strategy.
- Engage proactively and collaboratively with Thematic Advisors, Regional Project Managers, Finance and Communications staff in London to ensure that research supports wider organisational/programme objectives and is properly resourced and reported.
- Develop new business by leading on research contributions to project and programme proposals, working with project teams and UK colleagues.
- Represent R&L and the organisation with external and internal stakeholders, from producers and project managers, research firms, academic institutions, donors and NGOs, to media and government counterparts, including disseminating our findings and investigating new funding opportunities.
- Line management of at least one Senior Research Officer including supporting personal development, motivation and technical support.
