Research Analyst - VBA & SQL coding


ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Support Equity / Accounting Research Analyst of a leading sell-side research firm.


Responsibilities include:

- Working closely with domain expert/sector specialist and understand requirements relating to automation (using VBA macros) clearly

- Ability to understand and write advanced SQL queries using large datasets on Oracle, Sybase IQ databases

- Working knowledge of XML/VB.NET, Unix Shell scripting

- Handle voluminous data and create interactive excel interfaces

- Excel application development & database design, development and maintenance according to the team's requirements

- Updating/integrating large data with client's applications

- Development / support of IT systems, Business Analysis, Client Interaction, Project coordination

PROBLEM SOLVING

- Identifies and resolves complex research issues and team problems & semi helps set research agenda and suggests articles/studies

- Responsibility for publishing increasingly innovative and unique proprietary content

INTERACTIONS :

- Works within own team and interacts with other related teams

- Communicates regularly with internal & external clients

- Responds to client inquiries regarding coverage area, overall industry issues and themes, as well as product content and navigation

- May train internal stakeholders as to research content, develop client-facing webinars presenting and summarizing content offerings, typically with a senior research analyst

TYPICAL SCOPE & IMPACT :

- Impacts and directs the quality of research and effectiveness of own team

- Contributes to the achievement of Research department objectives

MINIMUM & PREFERRED EDUCATION :

- B.E/B.Tech. CS / IT / MCA, Experience in SQL and Excel VBA (coding).

- Good knowledge of financial statements and accounting concepts

- Python skills will be added advantage.

MINIMUM & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

- Good knowledge of SQL and Excel with Macros (VBA coding)

- Expertise in using and coding for MS Office tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.

- Experience in managing large amounts of data using MS SQL Server

- Designing, testing and implementing data validation checks

- Producing well-formatted exhibits like charts and tables, based on the results of analysis, in an efficient and automated manner

- Good analytical, communication and documentation skills

- Soft skills: Strong communication skills
